His new film took in $126 at the box office on its opening night. Lowest ever.

Hmm,
How many theaters was it showing at? That sounds like it was at one theater. George C. Scott had something like that happen years ago when for whatever reason, no one would distribute a film he'd made. He bought a theater and showed his film. People may be angry at Spacey for what he has been accused of. (Remember he has been convicted of a crime in trial by media only. He did not get his day in court to tell his story) but that seems a bit extreme.

I believe it was in 10 theaters. In small markets. At one theater, it was only shown once, and that was at 9:30 am. At another, only once at 10 p.m.
It was also available as a video on demand download for the last month. I think it is clearly not a successful movie, but the powers that be did not even try to get it out there. At least not yet.

Okay, this whole thing is being "taken out" on Kevin, but let's remember how many other people (professionals) were involved in making that movie, and how they must feel after doing their best, just like they would on any other movie. The full cast and production team listing is on IMDB, and it's amazing how many people were involved: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5179598/ful......_sm#cast

That’s unfortunate for the other actors.

This latest box office is all well and good to poke Spacey (no pun intended). He was never a draw. He is also way past his movie prime. He's been a TV actor for some time. If you look at his box office as a lead it's 169M. As a supporting actor its over a billion. He was fortunate to get supporting roles in good movies. He was never a big star. This latest thing means nothing because he got paid regardless of box office.

The movie business is changing beyond the scandal. A scandal I hasten to add which has not actually been a secret.

I don’r think the draw in this movie was Kevin Spacey. I think it was Ansel Elgort.
