Name: Entrapment Gold II
Available from: http://www.alakazam.co.uk Price: £10.00 Examinable: Not really (except after suggested clean up) Difficulty: 2/5 Out of 10: 6 The gimmick supplied is quite clever and well made. It should stand up to plenty of performances if a little care is taken. It is easy to use and none of the moves required are particularly difficult although there are several required for both phases (all of the same type). With a bit of practice you can certainly end up with an effective standalone routine or something which could feature as part of an ambitious card routine or similar. The instructions are fairly basic but to be honest you don't need much explanation to grasp how this can be used. Based on this I would probably have scored this higher than I have. However, while trying this out I did start to question what this (the gimmick) added when compared with what could be achieved with a regular deck or other more standard faked cards (which you probably already have). Certainly the second phase could be achieved without any gimmick and without really having to employ any additional moves. So what does it give you? Well the first phase would be more difficult to achieve without the gimmick but is certainly possible. The handling might seem a little cleaner when using the gimmick but I am not convinced that the spectator would care about this or even notice it. Overall I think there are published ungimmicked versions of this effect (or very similar) which would have the same or very similar impact on an audience. Obviously these ungimmicked versions would leave you cleaner at the end as well. I am not sure how this improves on the original Entrapment Gold but I am not convinced it adds enough over ungaffed sandwich effects to warrant carrying the gimmick. That said it is a clever gimmick which it might, with a little thought, be possible to employ in other ingenoius ways. |

If the gimmick is blue back, can you use it with a red back deck ( that's what the first entrapment gold ad says )
Thanks! Chris

MagicChris, you cant use the gimmick with a different deck. overall, I'd give the gimmick a 3/5. its clever, but extremely easy to make yourself. I was a little disappointed with it and I don't see how you can add it into an ambitious card. it kills specs and magicians, but you could the stuff with sleight of hand.
