WOW, a serious Max Maven fan. All very good mentalism effects. You'll certainly stand out from the singers and musicians. I don't know what experience you have or what the venue is like, but I've never know magic to go down that well at talent contests. However, give it your best shot and good luck
I'd make a guess and say that you also like Richard Osterlind, Daryl and as you come from Penguin, you're also a Jay Sankey fan. How did I do? |

Good luck! You must tell us how you get on!
There is a variation of Kurotsuke available that I absolutely love (but can't mention in the Café). A great, great effect with lots of scope to play for the audience and show your talent. Bank night is excellent too, and very endearing, which I am sure would be a real plus with the judges. All great experience, go for it! Best wishes, Carlo |

Some thoughts about Osterlinds Bank Nite:
It's a vey good opener. First, it's humouristic with the right presentation. Humour makes people relax. Second, they win something. That makes people wanting to help you. You don't have the problem with people saying "No" when asking them to come and help you. Third, it can help you making people remember the show as much better and more entertaining than it was. I.e. you can ask the last person to make a bet: If they win they get the price if you win this person helps you to get people applausing, whistling, shouting. I often ask people to this bet: I double the money if they not just help me with the applausing after bank Nite, but for the whole show. So my tip is, start with Bank Nite and you have a person helping you to warm up the audience. Good Luck hjelm sweden |

Hjelm provides a very useful advice.
Ralph, that's a strong selection. Nice. Only one thing: try to not over do. If it is a contest, there are many other participants and all of them bring his own friends to the audience, try to be strong without take to long. It’s better to do a couple of things at the right pace than four in a rush. In this case, the idea of “leave them wanting more” applies. Lets us know how it goes. Best of luck! |

At the risk of repeating myself, your choice of effects is fine -- you certainly can't go wrong with Maven material. But what's most important is your presentation. That's where you need to invest your time: in making whatever effects you perform your own.
Best of luck, Neil
