I would like to perform the the effect where a blank "photo paper" is initialed and placed between two half dollars. Later the paper is shown to have a photo of a chosen card.
I know this effect has been around a long time. My problem is in finding the miniature photos. Anyone know of a source? |

Now that we are in the computer age, just make them yourself with a scanner. Scan playing cards, reduce size and print on the new photo paper available.
Most photographers have changed to the digital cameras and computer software with high-end photo printer. For a playing card any color inkjet printer will provide you with a good finished product. I bought a Epson program that prints mini photo stickers from Wal-Mart. Many photos on a photo grade paper. It only was a few dollars. You do not need an Epson printer to use this program. The program came with the paper. With Microsoft Publisher I have made my own cards, all except the court cards. It is quite simple. Especially if I can do it! |

Thanks for the advice. I recently ordered the "Versatile Monte & Beyond" DVD. It teaches how to create gaffed cards using a computer.
The ad copy states that a scanner is optional. The DVD has not arrived yet so I'm not sure if I will need a scanner or not. However, I may purchase one anyhow. Wal-Mart sells scanners from HP and Lexmark for under $100. Does anyone know if the image quality of these scanners would be acceptable to produce decent looking gaffed cards? I don't recall the model numbers at present. I would like to hear from anyone wishing to share their experience using a scanner in this manner. Thanks. |

There are sites on the web in which you can download the actual backs of the various playing cards. Do a search here on the Café.

I hate to break the news to you, but without the proper printer, software (and knowledge to use it)you are severely limited by what you can do with the information on that dvd "Versatile Monte & Beyond". Basically you hosed without the proper training and equipment.
