RE: "I've found that they cover the coins so exactly that even minor variations in humidity cause them to stick"
I wish my Johnson Walking Lib ] fit that closely. I have to work like h#ll to keep it from singing like a bird when I use it. Mike |

I know a number of magicians who use this move to get a normal coin into classic palm, and the same can be done with a ]. Max Howard has one of the finest routines for coins across that I've ever seen. He uses 3 dollar sized coins and a shell. He starts by allowing a spectator to take the coins from the purse and count them into a little dish. How he rings in, then later out, the shell is one of the most deceptive, beautiful things I've seen.
You can see him perform and teach this on his video, the name of which escapes me at this moment (it's the only one that he's ever put out). Rick

I find spectators don’t know about ]s but they do know about extra coins. So for me to lay the coins out on my palm or the table, with my hands otherwise clearly empty, is better then having the ] in my hand (C palmed) and the coins on the table. A lot of people won’t grab for coins but they will say “you have an extra coin” or “is there something in your hand?” Pete is right don’t run if they aren’t chasing you. One of the advantages of coin magic is that the props are common and simple, spectators can’t think of how to gaff a coin (except maybe a half dollar is glued with an English penny on the back.) With cards they figure out df, db faster. Almost nobody can figure out a S/C/B gaff.

Okay, another method I just discovered is the fingertip retention shuttle pass from Rubenstein’s “Knock-Out Coin Magic.” It allows me to apparently show the two ]’s front and back, but what I’m doing is switching them out for ungaffed or gaffed coins, as the need may be. If I do this with all four coins in the beginning or the end, I can start or end clean. Of course, I have to have the coin(s) that I am switching to c/p’ed.
