Does anyone have these?
https://www.murphysmagic.com/product.aspx?id=62967 https://www.murphysmagic.com/product.aspx?id=62966 If it's real glass, how come the guy put a piece in his month in the second video?? I am confused. |

That's a non-horrible price for a shattering glass - I've seen them even more expensive. Years ago, you could get these even cheaper from some suppliers of science-demonstration and science-lab equipment for schools, but that may no longer be so. Still a bit pricey for use in anything other than paid shows compensated above the birthday-party level. Yep - you have to re-purchase the trick for every performance.
Try Big Bang from MagicSmith for a more affordable glass-breaking effect, with a totally different method. Yes, they are definitely real glass. I have two possible solutions to the glass eating - both are rather straightforward and fairly obvious solutions to anyone broadly familiar with magic, nothing too clever. PM if interested. If you want to learn more about some related science, head over to YouTube and look for a video titled "Mystery of Prince Rupert's Drop at 130,000 fps - Smarter Every Day 86" |

The context of the effect eludes me? Is it a mind power. A test of strength? Psychokinesis? The only presentation I ever thought had merit, was when Teller used his voice to break bottles.
No matter how many times you say the wrong thing, it will NEVER be right.

Senor F. - Yes, in the Murphy's video the product is being demonstrated, as opposed to being performed. It's usually given a psychokinesis presentation, with the performer apparently straining until blue in the face and on the edge of apoplexy before shattering the glass with the power of his gimm... uh... mind.

I'm guessing these are the same as the bottles and glasses made and sold by propdog for the last few years??

And just to give a little history here: The idea has been now stolen by others. Kevin Curtin was the first to figure out a way for just one section of the bottle or pitcher to break. Before that, and I'm talking decades, you could not hold the bottle safely because everything would explode.
It took him about a year to figure out the correct formula to make it break just at the bottom. As usual, some bought it then sold the secret. Now many are making them using Kevin's idea and selling them. I wish it were not true, but we live in a world, and in a field, where being a thief is okay. It's okay to download music and films for free. No one cares if someone else put time and money into the product as long as they can get if cheaply or for free. It's a shame, but that is the world we live in. Greg

It would probably behoove some folks to Google the phrase "Kevin Curtain Conviction".
