Through trial and experimenting I just stumbled onto this: that you can do Leo Boudreau's fantastic "eyes closed if red card" trick using the Aronson first 20 cards as is!
Below is a 20 bit wrapping DeBruijn using 6 bit non-repeating strings: The ones are where the Aronson red cards are: 0001001010011 1100100 Armed with the below octal cheat sheet you can do Leo's trick with six spectators using the first 20 cards of your Aronson deck! You can print this cheat sheet and put on the back of one of the Jokers since they are not used. Below is two groups of 3 bits converted to Octal code low bits first: 01=Js 44=KC 22=5c 15=2h 42=9s 21=As 54=3h 26=6c 17=8d 47=Ac 63=10s 71=5h 74=2d 32=Kd 11=7d 40=8c 20=3s 10=Ad 04=7s 02=5s Put the above in a spreadsheet and then sort the column and print it so you can easily find the two digit code. Then cut it out and glue it to the Joker or somewhere easy for you to see but spectators can't. Once you know the first card of the six then you know the rest because you have your stack memorized. I haven't had a chance to debug this but I believe it is correct. I suspect that all stacks (Tamariz etc) may have segments that unknowingly have a DeBruijn sequence that support 6 bits. You could also create a special 40 card deck composed of two sets of the Aronson first 20 cards. |

I did a full test of all 20 six bit patterns and it is perfect.
Sorted Octal Cheat Sheet for Aronson first 20 cards: 01=Js 02=5s 04=7s 10=Ad 11=7d 15=2h 17=8d 20=3s 21=As 22=5c 26=6c 32=Kd 40=8c 42=9s 44=Kc 47=Ac 54=3h 63=10s 71=5h 74=2d |

Note that the first 16 Aronson cards also make up a wrapping debruin (assuming that diamonds and hearts are binary one and that clubs and spades are binary 0).
You could construct a deck of 3 sets of the first 16 cards giving you a more substantial looking deck of 48 cards. The 16 bit De Bruijn for this is: 0001001010011110 The octal codes for Aronson first 16 cards (hearts and diamonds are "1") are: 01=Js 44=KC 22=5c 15=2h 42=9s 21=As 54=3h 26=6c 17=8d 47=Ac 63=10s 71=5h 70=2d 30=Kd 14=7d 02=8c The sorted octal cheat sheet for Aronson first 16 cards are: 01=Js 02=8c 14=7d 15=2h 17=8d 21=As 22=5c 26=6c 30=Kd 42=9s 44=KC 47=Ac 54=3h 63=10s 70=2d 71=5h Reminder that for any six sequential cards the first three cards indicate an octal digit of 0 through 7 and the second three cards also indicate an octal digit of 0 through 7. Thanks to Claudio on themagiccafe for the suggestion to use octal (so you don't have to mentally add 8, 16, 32). |

If you want to live dangerously you could use a full Aronson deck and have the DeBruijn 20 cards near the middle (ie: cut the Ten of Clubs to the top of the deck before performing) then at performance time after you do some false shuffles and false cuts say to the spectator "cut the deck somewhere near the middle" (note they do just one cut and complete the cut).
Then proceed with the trick as usual. Note that the sorted cheat sheet is still valid. Also note that there will be more danger if the spectator cuts too "thick" than cutting too "thin" because there will be a card dealt then 5 more dealt thus going deeper into the deck. Therefore I lean to putting a few more "non DeBruijn" cards on top of the 20 DeBruijn cards (about 18 cards on top of the JS thru 5S) and 14 cards after the 20. Your "out" if you see they obviously cut too thin is to say "cut a small amount more to get a random choice". Your "out" for a too thick cut is more difficult and you may want to slide into another trick such as Leo Boudreau's 7 card 5673142 trick with 3 spectators: see the below link and and scroll up a couple of posts to see Leo's post "A counterpart to "Circular Psychometry" may be performed..." (and just use 7 random cards to do that trick - it is excellent!). https://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/view......art=20#9 |

I found another natural DeBruijn (for Hearts and Diamonds as binary "1"s) in the Aronson deck.
Cut the 7H to the top and use just the 7H thru the QC (26) cards. I'll make another post about this fact so it has better visibility on this forum. Two digit (low to high) octal code for Aronson natural 26 (7H thru QC) SORTED crib sheet 01=KS 11=6H 12=9H 15=8H 22=4C 23=10C 24=2S 25=JC 27=QS 32=10H 35=4D 37=QH 40=3C 46=9C 44=6S 51=JD 52=10D 53=6D 56=JH 57=5D 63=7C 64=4S 65=QC 72=KH 75=4H 76=7H |

Now that I have found 2 natural wrapping DeBruin sequences in the Aronson deck (that don't overlap) you could get 2 groups of 6 people (total of 12 people) on stage and give the leader of one group the Ace of Spades thru Five of Spades (20 card DeBruijn) and give the leader of the other group the Seven of Hearts thru Queen of Clubs (26 card DeBruijn) and do Leo's "Eyes Closed if red card" trick with each group.
The remaining 6 cards and 2 jokers are set aside (or use some bogus excuse for you the magician to get a psychic reading from these extra cards). On the back of one joker could be a simple cheat sheet for the 20 card DeBruijn and on the back of the other joker could be the cheat sheet info for the 26 card DeBruijn. Or you could have a funny "ESP Made Easy" book with a cheat sheet for the 20 cards on page 50 and the cheat sheet for the 26 cards on page 51. Warning: do not try to combine these two DeBruijn's together as one 46 card deck because they would have several duplicate DeBruijn octal numbers and also the end of the 26 DeBruijn does not wrap to the beginning of the 20 DeBruijn (creates some duplicate octal numbers). The above posts have the sorted cheat sheet for the 20 card (JS) natural Aronson DeBruijn. The below link shows the sorted cheat sheet for the 26 card (7H) natural Aronson DeBruijn. https://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/view......forum=99 glowball yelnif |
