Is there a no gimmick version of this fun coin routine to found in any books?
Thanks |

Yes, many. Modern Coin Magic and CoinMagic are great places to start your search. While learning you will discover MANY ways to accomplish this basic effect.

LOL, Jon, you gotta take it easy on newbies, trying to force them to read might just scare them away.
Funemagic, Jon is right though, those two books will lead you on your way to the right direction you are looking for. |

Okay, just for the sake of the newbies...
Yes this has been considered. Jay Sankey explored something he calls HPC/CPH which handles this kind of transposition quite well. Sorry to say, I tend to prefer using an English Penney with a small Chinese coin glued on. To each their own. Sorry I can't talk about the EG2EG version of the trick yet... though you can find the key move in Kainoa Harbottle's book Coins On Edge. More goodies and tidbits can be found on Curtis Kam's wonderful video series Palms of Steel and of course you can invent your own handling using material in published by Michael Rubinstein or David Neighbors. David probably has a few handlings of this exact trick for you.

There are a few published nongaffed handlings of this effect, or close to it. All of these materials will be difficult to locate or apply if you are truly new to the field. However, in the faith that "lofty goals extend our reach" you should look into the following:
The first published nongaffed c/s/b was Scotty York's, in a 1970's issue of Genii. It later appeared in some other source, I can't recall where. David Neighbors has an ungaffed sequence for this on his video "The Coinjuror" done as a lead in to a gaffed handling. David Roth has an excellent ungaffed handling of the "Two Copper, One Silver" routine in Expert Coin Magic. There is a routine by a magician I'm not familiar with named Lance McMillion, called "Silver Copper Gold" that I read over at Dan Watkins' site, or the companion "Coinpurse" site. Check it out, it's very clever, breaks new ground, and is free. And don't get me started on routines that use only a simple c/s gaff..... Happy hunting.

I'm in the middle of doing a book...in it there will be a very simple handling of 2 coppers 1 silver. It has recieved very good response from anyone I have performed it for.

Curtis,
I would love to get you started on the c/s gaff. But that's another post. Maybe I'll just PM you instead about it. |

James, it's also another thread. We've done the c/s thing before, hopefully a search will reveal all.

If you use a C/S for the effect, it's technically not going gaff, if you only look at one side at a time
I've done the CSB non-gaffed, but never in actual performance, just for myself. I suppose to prove a point or to answer one of the many questions that no one ever asked me, which I spend too much time answering anyway. I've got to stick by my post from a while back and say that I see no reason to do it without a gaff. The entertainment value and believability with a gaff are both very high, whereas the ungaffed versions (that I've played with anyway) looked a little too jerky, and had too many surplus hand gestures and movements. I like your take on it Curtis (From POS / Silverado). And if I had hands like yours, that's how I'd do it too. Very clean looking, and not as many visual considerations as my method tends to have. Best, Mike |

Hey all how about John Scarne's routine in Stars Of Magic? I use his one handed switch for other transpo's as well.

James,
Not really a "newbie", been doing magic about 15 years and prefer reading a good book to watching a video most days of the week and recommend others doing the same. You wouldn't need to force me to read and it wouldn't scare me away. I've have read Modern Coin Magic but didn't remember Copper, Silver, Brass transpo specifically being mentioned though copper/silver transpo is. It's been awhile since I've read it. |

James,
I don't think Jon blasted me, his response was very helpful. In fact everyone else gave very helpful responses. Thanks everyone. |

I wouldn't consider it non-gaffed since it uses a C/S but Geoff Latta's CopSilBrass is a favorite of mine.
