I have to say that there aren't many clown books I've read that really told me what I needed to know about being a better clown. A lot of books offer some routines and bits of business that are good. Some books really get into developing your character and stuff. It's hard to take that and transfer it into what you need to do to be a better clown.

I get a lot more out of watching real clowns work. I would recommend buying videos of clowns and seeking out clowns to observe. Dave Bartlett has some great videos for sale at http://www.tmyers.com Bubba Sikes has a four video series for sale at http://www.bubbasikes.com. Pricilla Mooseburger has some old compition videos for sale. I forget what her website is.

Strutter's Guide To Clown Make-up is an excellant book for make-up. I like the Dewey's books for little skits, jokes and bits of business. They are very inexpensive and catagorized so you can easily find what you need.
