There was a previous thread on this in L&G but since it is locked I'm starting a new one under the review section. This fits squarely under the category of magician-fooler. With a combination of four different methodologies going on, no one will be able to backtrack this. Not even Penn & Teller could break this thing down from a single viewing. But while you'll definitely confound your magician buddies, there are much easier ways to perform this effect for lay people that will be just as amazing, and cleaner. The effect is that after a deck is freely shuffled, you reveal that you predicted in advance the location of a specific card. So consider this approach: Write down a card and position as your prediction. Have the deck shuffled. Take the deck and run through it face up to show the cards are all different. As you do so, spot your target card and c**l it into the predicted position. Set the deck on the table. Reveal the prediction. Ask the spectator to count down to the predicted position. Bingo. Same effect with no advance preparation and no awkward middle section where you must do some on the fly counting and calculation while pattering. Also, no need for a table, no in/out of the card box discrepancy, and the results can be different every time. So if you are looking for something to blow away the magi, this is it. If you're primarily interested in entertaining laypeople, I would look elsewhere.

That assumes you can secretly cull a card with people sitting right next to you burning your hands. Plus you would still have to count the cards anyway to get the selected card into the right position. Shuffled requires much less dexterity and is much more hands off than any culling method would be.

Using Kostya Kimlat's RR Cull, you could cull the target card and then as many cards as necessary without anyone noticing. If you predict the position at ten cards from the top, it is quite easy to cull nine more as you count them. You could even pause every few cards since you are presumably having the spectator look for duplicates. I agree that Shuffled is more hands off, but it has downsides that this version doesn't. The only potential downside to this is that you need to be able to execute a good RR Cull.
