Hello there,
I turned forty-one exactly one month ago and I have been practicing/performing magic since around the age of fifteen when my grandmother taught me the good old Twenty-One Card Trick and it sparked my interest perhaps to the detriment of my parents and sibling. Ha! I do mostly close-up magic which use to be ninety-nine percent card magic until approximately three years ago I discovered that once I gave it a chance I really enjoyed coin magic. I was intimated by it for years and the only time I used coins was for a Matrix routine or retention vanish. Nevertheless, since I made that discovery my magic overall has improved and I am glad to be able to provide more than card tricks when I entertain. I'm looking forward to conversing with you all, learning from you all and helping others learn whenever I am able to do so. Thanks for having me.

Welcome Uncle Shifty,
Three cheers for your Grandmother! I'm still intimidated by coins. I used to do matrix and I've done a couple of "moves" for misers dream but mostly I'm stalled out. More power to you for persistence. Cash tricks, a ring and rope (or string) and rubber band tricks are good for adding a varietal look to your sets as well. Are you really an Uncle or were you being shifty? -Mary Mowder |

I bought David Roth's "Expert Coin Magic Made Easy" box set and during certain times I would be looking incredulously at my laptop screen and say out loud "Made easy!? How is this easy!? On a scale from one being easy to ten being difficult this is at twenty-seven, David! I mean... Mr. Roth!" Of course like everything else with a bit of diligent practice I have become competent in some things and still have a long ways to go in others. As I previously mentioned it has only been three years so when it comes to coin magic I am still very much a novice. Quote:

You're right, I should look into a bit more of those as the only rubber band magic I do is crazy man's handcuffs. It's a fantastic trick but I should branch out more with that kind of thing. Quote:
Are you really an Uncle or were you being shifty? Ha! I am actually a real Uncle. I have a nephew who is in his early twenty's and a niece who is just turned thirteen. In fact, I only returned from visiting family in America two days ago and I performed some magic for them. My niece just discovered boys so I showed her a few tricks in between the fifteen to twenty-second intervals when she wasn't texting or checking to see if she had a text. My nephew is in an "I want to react with awe to that but it wouldn't look cool too so I am going to pace back and forth after the trick and say "Yeah, OK buddy...OK, buddy...whatever." stage. Ha! Although he was really intrigued by the bottom deal after I did a poker demonstration using it and we had a fun conversation about that. I am wishing you a wonderful day Mary!
