Hello fellow magicians,
I am Max Roh, a teammate of Majestic! If you are one of those who watched Cabaret du Monde magic videos, you might recognize Kimoon Do for his Conductor Act. Kimoon now is up to Card Close-up magic. We understand in the market, there are many single tricks with certain gimmicks to wow the spectators. Kimoon, however wants to show that sleights and card routines can be still powerful and fun to perform. He utilizes basic moves to create a routine with a modern touch and yes, you can learn and see how Kimoon perform from start to finish. We are from South Korea and there aren't many Koreans who releases lectures these days so we want sincere feedback from the world, which is THE MAGIC Café! (We have English subtitles) It would be an honor to earn feedback from you guys and you can check our trailer, and Kimoon's multiple performances from our channel. Thank you very much.~~ BRAVE DVD Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJoCuq5J-L8&t=67s Kimoon's Sleights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3K8nZyu7ds4&t=6s

This looks very interesting. It reminds me of the stuff Creative Artists puts out from Vietnam with the smooth, elegant and visual displays. Perhaps we're seeing the rise of the Southeast Asian school of magic? Is this DVD subtitled or dubbed in English?

Thank you very much for your interest!
Brave DVD has English subtitles so you will have no problem learning the tricks. Magician Kimoon Do is well known for his smooth handling in Korea, making him thr winner in TMA and BIMF in close-up category. Check out one of his most loved acts on our Majestic Youtube channel: Double Assembly. https://youtu.be/3K8nZyu7ds4

Double Assembly is a beautiful take on McDonald's Aces. Maybe offering it as a download on one of the more heavily trafficked magic web sites could bring awareness to the DVD.

Thanks for watching!
That is a good idea, we will take in mind. Thanks for the feedback. We have made diverse forms of magi videos. In our compilation videos you can actually see how Kimoon variates the tricks listed on the DVF.

David - Love your reviews and I'm glad you did this one. $39 + shipping is a bit steep unless you know you're getting quality material, and you've pushed me off the fence. I will be ordering this.

I tried ordering from the website. Very, Very confusing. I did not complete my order? I have no idea on what they are asking for. They really need to streamline the order process.

I just received this from Penguin. I have just gotten through the first effect, and it is AWESOME! The first effect is a very visual sandwich, in which, the card in the middle appears face down, then in a snap, appears face up.
To me, Kimoon is like a Gen X version of Dave Williamson. He has the thorough thought of Dave, and the high visual element of more recent magic. I'm just going to make a few points of comment on this first effect: First, He talks theory (very briefly, but very effectively). He talks about how he doesn't like to place the sandwich cards face up on the deck because it takes away from the punchline of the effect. He is SO RIGHT. I hadn't thought about it, but if you put two kings face up on the deck and have them pick a card, their card IS going to end up between those two Kings. The only thing at that point that would be surprising would be if it didn't happen. If it happens, well, it was supposed to happen. I loved that brief, but very deeply thought out advice. Second, his method is really beautiful. As amazing as that effect looks (it's one of the ones on the trailer), the method is completely within reach of any magician with a bit of practice. The method is so logical. It's almost one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" moments. Third, while he speaks a foreign language, with the subtitles, the explanation is very good. This particular effect uses no gimmicks. Having said that, it comes with an envelope full of bits and pieces. I have no idea what they are for yet, but I'm going to spend some time just on this first effect before moving on. If I get nothing more than this first effect, it was completely worth the price. AWESOME! KJ |
