When the Orville first came on, I thought it would be a pure parody. But it has involved into a thoughtful show with great effects, and a humanizing of the cast. I won't watch the Star Trek reboot on their streaming service, because I already pay for premium cable and it's too much.
S.E.M. (The Sun, the Moon, and the Earth) is a sun and moon routine unlike any other. Limited to 100 sets, here is the promo:

I'll have to check it out. Love Star Trek, just not the new one for the same reason and wasn't too fond of DS9.

I am a die hard Trekkie (see my car at ( http://www.willieyee.info/ZhangHeng.html ) and I am pretty much with you on this one. However, I hear that Discovery has gotten better in the second season. We'll see.

DS9 was my favorite Trek. Particularly after Worf came on. Haven't seen Discovery but The Orville is rad.

I liked the characters in DS9 a lot. They REALLY explored the Ferengi, and Dax very well. Miles and the doctor had an interesting relationship, and they flushed out him very well also.
I liked that series more than I thought I did if that makes sense?

Been a die hard trek fan (Treker) since 1980. In college I had the "Trek Alarm". My watch had an alarm set to go off when TOS trek reruns were coming on late night on the local station.

I'm certainly into Trek but I have not seen Discovery.
I really do like ALL of the Star Trek series before Discovery. More when they are about the characters and thought provoking subject matter and less so when they were about intrigue and huge wars. There are some good aspects to Orville but it is sometimes too disgusting (like the head stabbing scene in the Krill? church) and weirdly also too silly.. While I like some of the music choices and references to my social culture they are a constant reminder that this is not a serious Sci Fi project. ( I loved Futurama but I didn't take it as serious Sci Fi so I'm not putting Orville down.) I do like some of the social subjects that Orville chooses to tackle. I have found it thought provoking on some uncomfortable and (for me) unexamined subject matter. - Mary Mowder |

This is a singer named Voltare, who has this song about different versions of "Star Trek." Warning! As you can tell by the title, it gets rowdy in places.
I have the live version of this, where he's added a new verse about "Enterprise" but I can't find it here. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_DfHPWoc9Vw I suppose he'll have to write a new version with the new show.

Was sad that Enterprise went off the rails so quickly. Felt like it had a lot of potential. Still, the backstory of the Klingon augment experiments was interesting.
The Star Trek exhibits at the Paris Hilton in Vegas are one of my favorite memories and I really wish they'd re-open them somewhere.
