Just for clarity, do you get two clear cards that have the “black magnetic strip” (in the style of where you live. It gave me the impression they are different thickness in USA and Europe) then you also get a couple of the gold chips that cards have now (in a sticker form) that you can choose whether or not to apply?
If my thinking is correct, what would you recommend via using the chip stickers? Would it be best to use a chip sticker on one and leaving the other with only the black strip? Would that cover you either way the spec’s card might be? (I’m asking for US use by the way).

Great question. You get two cards, with black magnetic strips. You also get four “chip” stickers. In Canada every card has the chop, so I only carry one gimmick on me, which has the stickers applied. Back in the US however, there are still plenty of people who don’t have the chip, so carrying one of each would be my recommendation. Odds are you’ll mainly use the chip card, but it’s best to have both options available at any time

Just received this. The gimmicks are nicely made and you get two with the chip stickers as mentioned already.
For me there is only one way to do this and that involves getting the real credit card out of your hands completely. Not sure about the US but in the UK people want to see the other hand and going immediately to a wallet won't work on everybody, plus I have large hands and as a credit card doesn't bend it's clear you're palming something. However, Josh covers a method which eliminates the need to palm and this is the way I had initially thought of doing it. It makes no odds to me but it is a shame Josh that you didn't film the sleights you teach at the correct angle. I'm not sure they were the appropriate moves tbh but at the wrong angle they just look dreadful. I am just thinking that sleeving or using that shirt topit thing that Ammar put out would be perfect for another way to 'lose' their card. I'm sure you'll all have your own ideas, that's why I bought this because I thought it had potential and I believe it does with some thought. |

Thanks for the feedback Russell! The routines and sleights taught on the download is more of a framework to base your own ideas around. Considering them starting points. Using Jeff Kaylor's UCCU is a GREAT use with Blankrupt, and is something I've done myself. You can actually do Patrick's handling using that method, which is really quite spectacular looking

I'm sure when performed correctly this trick looks impressive. Just watched the performance thru facebook link, and it still concerns me about the palm. With any type of palming you can usually get away with it because when the palm takes place it's not at the same time as the "surprise" of something vanishing or appearing. But with this trick when you are pulling your hand away to reveal the big moment, it's natural for people to watch the other hand that's held flat as its pulled away. On a one to one performance the misdirection works wonders, but should there be a crowd gathered around they will look at the other hand! It's one of those situations where you hope everyone is kind enough not to mention what they suspect! "it's in your hand", "lets see the hand"!!!
Just my opinion. |

Hi Mark, thank you for your comment. If palming isn't for you, there are handlings taught that do not require a palm. My favorite no palm version is Bro Gilbert's contribution. He helped me come up with a fun handling using a dollar bill and nothing else. With this handling, you don't plam anything, can perform this surrounded, and your hands are completely empty. Garrett Thomas also has a handling, that also doesn't require palming, that is a really fun presentation using Silly Putty

Played around with this last night. Being a jacket wearer I believe there is enough time to do the change, drop your dirty hand to your side and push the real card partly up your sleeve as the focus is on the omni card. Then complete the sleeving vanish as you raise your hand up to gesture. Now the hand can be dropped after being seen empty to retrieve the card from the sleeve and then go to your CTW to provide them a replacement card.
Also Josh suggests obtaining a break before making the change. If you just do the first part of the Erdnase change there is no need for the break. |

Thanks for the clarification Josh re non palm version. Is there a demo of the different performance without a palm? I like the idea of the effect seen on your main demo video.

I haven't really bought anything this year (trying to pay off some bills) but I wanted to get something for VI's 10th Anv sale and this was on my wishlist along with TURN so I grabbed them. I do Omni Deck, Omni Pen and Phantom Deck so I thought this will fit in nicely.
However, after watching the video (gimmicks are on the way) I don't see most of the routines taught happening without some potential problems. Just as some people won't do card on forehead, anything from nose or mouth... I can't see doing some of this stuff with someone else's credit card. I will probably come up with something using my own card with the gimmick. There isn't anything wrong with the routines as a magic effect is concerned, but people I know are not going to like at least two of them and would be very weary that they let me even see their card after the effect is done. As mentioned earlier, the video angles are bad and Josh mentions it is just a framework, he does give different ideas from other magicians that at least show you there are many different paths you can take and lets face it - it is an OMNI item, how hard is it to figure something out? Exactly the reason I will come up with my own handling. Overall it looks to have great potential in the OMNI LINE of magic props and several variations are given to meet your style.

Here's a great review from Danny Orleans in Genii!

I’m actually having fun just using it as a joke at the store. I pull out “my card” to pay and say “oh crap, I have that new Capital 1 (or City or whoever’s in your area) real time credit card. Unfortunately if my credit score drops below 700, it blanks out and I have to use cash until I pay my balance down. They buy every word of it. I get some of the strangest looks (and replies) and they love holding it and looking it over. I then grab my cell and pretend to open an app and “make a payment”. Meanwhile I do a quick switch (using a palm off ) and stick my Cap 1 or Citi card in the chip reader and say “wow, that payment went thru fast”. At that point, you have all the time in the world to ditch the gimmick.
I have to say, this is as much fun (or more) than my old “Pride and Joy” picture I used to (and still do) carry in my wallet, It is an offbeat way of using it but give it a try and see how you like it.

Hi Josh,
I really like the Bro Gilbert handling as it eliminates the need for palming the gimmick as well as the need for a card-to-wallet style wallet. I do have a question regarding the "chip" stickers. If applied to the Blankrupt gimmick, does it not create a discrepancy when showing the back side of the card? With the chip sticker applied, when showing the back, it would also have a chip on the back whereas it is normally on the front. I doubt most people would even notice. The effect where the stripe is moved from the back to the front works perfectly in this case. In my downloaded instructions, there was no mention of the chip stickers. I just assumed it was updated and appreciated the thoughtfulness to bring the effect up to date. Regards, --John |

Hi guys! Somehow I missed the last few post on this, so I do apologize for the delayed reply!
Prof - I'm so glad you like it! Yes I use this to "pay" for things all the time. I actually have applepay set up on my watch and just bring my wrist close as I go to "tap" the card. Gets great reactions! John - You are correct, the stickers were added afterwards, as I wanted to make sure people had options. As for how to show the back, since you get 4 stickers, I actually place one on each side of the gimmick so that it looks the same on both sides. Hope that helps! I also wanted to share a great review posted here on the Café: https://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/view......tart=0#1
