Who is encouraging others to do so? Or saying it isn't theft when it is?
I'm give you a hint. Look in the mirror. But you just can't stop can you? It is compulsive. You keep making excuses for a ridiculous position. I admit when I see ridiculous statements I have to correct them. Stop making them is all you have to do. Just stop typing. That is all. But you can't do that. It is almost funny. You already implied once you were done and yet again in typical Tom fashion you post right away. Just stop. We get your position. Using others material without permission is alright with you just so you give credit. Can it end now or do you have to get the last word?

I still recall the day I met Beaker from the Muppets. He said to me "Meep, meep, mee mee mee Meep!", and that has made all the difference.

What if the comedian is a communist?
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Don't mean to dis-track the discussion here,.
but when I watched this: https://youtu.be/yCn4ZHzSHkw I stopped watching. Amongst 'Comedians', we Magicians don't have the highest of standings. It's a bit difficult, because we, un-like 'Comedians', we use much more Apparatus and 'secret technique'. This leads to some,...repetition. Originality, in all three fields,.. is hard(!). That's what makes the 'the Great ones',..great,..i suppose. Struggling to be 'kinda öK', gallagher |

Using secret technique is not an excuse for doing unoriginal lines and routines. Comedians all use certain set ups and punches and yet the variance in jokes is tremendous.
The technique is not the routine. The secret is not the routine. This is the thinking that causes most magicians to not to be original. Magic needs to be more than the sum of its secrets and techniques. Is it easy? Oh lord no. But then again neither is being a great comic.

Comics who borrow common material are hacks. It used to be airline-peanuts now it's body-scanners. The best a Hack can do is recount his trip to the stage.
The least original magician still keeps it under the table.
