It should be called Deluxe Ring and Ribbon, not rope.
But no matter, I've always been a sucker for these types of effects. Please review it here after you receive it David. |

I’m afraid you’re going to be disappointed if you’re expecting a gimmick.

Yes it looks pretty good. Especially if the ring or ribbon is not gimmicked. I would prefer to see the full routine instead of seperate moves. A ring and ribbon effect should be one flow of penetrations on and off. Looking forward to see a review.

I am not expecting a gimmick, just a few variations on moves that to me looked novel. I have a pretty fair background in ring on string/ribbon work so I guess I got it to see what’s new. I do hope the the moves are not like some rubber-band effects where the setup is difficult or impossible to get into in front of spectators. I will weigh in when I have had a look at it. For reference I’m 60 and have been around magic since I was a kid. Doesn’t mean I know or can do everything, just that I have seen plenty.

Yeah, I liked what I saw too. I'm very familiar with ring and ribbon/rope moves as well - having performed them in my street show for many years a long time ago. There was definitely some very nice-looking variations here and I really like the look of the ring that's included with this. It's rather beefy looking and substantial and appears to not have any seam. Good rings for this effect seem to have gotten increasingly difficult to find over the years.
For those who haven't checked it out yet, I'd highly recommend Phil Willmarth's The Ring and Rope book. It's a fantastic resource. I love magic that can be performed with things that are simple and ungimmicked. |

I've never seen a good ring and string/rope routine that could not be presented in its full version - even as a sales demo. I'm looking forward to reviews on this one. |

I purchased.
The Ring is of very nice quality, metal with no seam and not too heavy or light. Some may find it a little big for their hands. The ribbon. This was a big surprise to me although I suspect it is easily available. I am only familiar with the satin type ribbon that I use for Charming Chinese Challenge. This ribbon included has more heft and is more fabric like and easier to handle. Searching online I think it is grosgrain ribbon which is new to me, shows how little I know about ribbon. The moves are variants, some quite clever of moves most of you have seen elsewhere. The opening move on the trailer where the ring appears to visibly penetrate an isolated piece of ribbon looks good in person and is not very difficult. Although not presented as a complete routine on the video the moves can certainly be assembled that way without difficulty. The teaching is in Chinese (I think) with misspelled subtitles but easy enough to follow and with valuable over the shoulder shots. It is a home brew video, not a studio production. I don't know if it's the best value if this is your first experience with this kind of magic but you do get nice props. I will not likely perform this in public. I do perform in public but already have a selection of parlor magic that fills my formal show and I find this a little too unwieldy for closeup casual situations. For a while I would carry around a wide flat red shoelace to be able to perform Eric Leclerc"s ring and ribbon routine if a woman in the crowd was wearing an appropriate bangle on her wrist. This routine is closest to that but with a few changes that only look right when using a larger ring and ribbon. |

Thanks for the review Xcath1. One of the concerns were, if the set up of the moves allows you to go in and out the different phases. Meaning are the set up for the penetration easy to get by in front of an audience. In comparison, we are thinking about a lot of great rubber band penetrations, however you have to do a lot of awkward twisting to get in position.

I currently have this one, which seems pretty similar

Vraagaard: the moves are possible to get into and to present as a routine. There is a little bit of big movement covers small, etc. But I found it workable.
Dooblehorn: I’m fairly certain the SEO trick uses a gimmicked ring. If someone knows different I would love to hear it. |

Seo effect uses a gimmick ring but also comes with an ungimmicked ring.
I worked out a nice ring switch so I was hoping to add in some moves from this effect and then immediately hand the ring out. |

That’s a good idea. The Seo trick looks amazing
