Many of you have mentioned giving a Magic Kit away to the birthday child. What is the typical cost on the kits that you give away?
Also, what are the typical costs for prizes in general that you give away? Scott .

Do you mean the cost we sell it to the customer for? Or, our cost to create the item? These should be different!

They should indeed be different. You need to keep the cost per kit in mind and know what that is so that you can make a profit off of the kits based upon what you are selling or offering them for.

I was assuming that the cost of the kit was included in your fee. Or do you sell your show, and then upsell the magic kit?
Either way, what is your expense on the kit, and what is the perceived value to the client? Scott .

The cost to assemble my magic kit is around $3-4, and I sell it to customers for $10. My customers don't know my actual costs (nor should they).
I include one as a gift as part of my birthday show package. As I said in another post, for double and triple birthdays, customers have been paying me a full $10 for the extra magic kits I bring along. Keep in mind that my prices are in Canadian (eh?). - Donald.

Thanks, Donald. Let me ask you this then. How do you go about assembling a magic kit? Put two or three small tricks in a box? And where do you find the tricks for these kits so inexpensively?
Scott

Well, there are lots of different sources, as revealed in other threads, and on other forums.
For now, I am buying some from a local dollar store. I have an arrangement with the manager to bring them in for me by the gross, and sell them to me wholesale. I buy magic wands in bulk and wholesale from a magic shop I know of. I also include my autographed poster and my activity book in my kit. All is packaged in a box, which I have labeled. There is other sources I know of for magic tricks. Like I said, read posts and search in other threads and in other forums. There are some magician courses/products that specifically teach you how to make magic kits and goodie bags: - Tim David's version. (Not an affiliate link). Jason Juliano also has one, but his link isn't working just now, so I won't post it. I think that Dave Dee might discuss the idea of magic kits in his insider secrets course. I think that John Kaplan might talk about magic kits in his fundraising magic product. As I don't own those two products, I don't know for sure, I am only making an intelligent guess based on what I have heard others say. - Donald.

Hello, I also am selling magic kits, they range from 10 dollars to the magic show in a box which is forty dollars! I would reccomend purchasing at least one of the courses mentioned above, they are not that expensive and will save you tons of time, for example most of the courses above come with copyright free instruction booklets that have pictures and everything in them, this alone would take you hours to put together, all you have to do with the course is pop the disc in your computer and insert your name!

Anyone have any good sources for magic tricks that could be put into kits in the UK?

I also give a kit out to the birthday child. You can also work the kits in as a package deal add on. You can also sell the kits as part of your BOR (back of room sales) items when your doing a bigger show at an event.

Thanks for the replys. I'll do a little searching in other threads and forums to see if I can locate a good source or two for these tricks.
The Dollar Store is a great Idea though. I've see some good ready-made kits there at times. Scott .

Are you asking about a pre-made kit, as opposed to assembling and creating your own?

I am really interested in providing magic kits. I am also interested in buying the Tim David Course;
Few questions 1. Does the Tim David kit give you exact contact details of comanies who sel the separate magic tricks that I can construct into kits? 2. What suppliers do you use to stuff your magic kits? Please list USA & UK Suppliers Thanks Guys! |

A lot of the wholesale suppliers are mentioned in older threads on this forum and others, so I recommend doing your own research.
You may need to do your "homework" to have that question answered, as in earning your reward of the great answers you seek. Dean Hankey calls this doing "your due diligence". On the Magic Café, look especially in the Tricky Business Area, or read through the list of links in the little darlings INDEX thread, pinned to the top of the little darlings forum. I think in one of the threads someone did mention one UK supplier. Because of doing my own research, I have found some suppliers that offer better deals than others. It's worth the effort. The best answers I found were in older threads on The Dean's List forum. But again, you should really search them out yourself, rather than have that sort of information handed to you. You could always e-mail Tim David and ask him that other question. I don't own Tim's course or Jason's course on making magic kits. I asked Tim a question similar to yours at one time, and he said that his course didn't include listings of any wholesale companies outside of the U.S. (meaning, he had no Canadian wholesale suppliers contact information). PM me for more contact information to reach Tim. - Donald.
