An interesting ungimmicked Do As I Do routine called Dup-Licates by J.K. Hartman with 2 decks can be found in The Chronicles No. 19. The spectator can shuffle both decks and you follow the spectator as s/he deals cards face down.

I just got this trick about a week ago and I must say that I performed this for a couple of coworkers a couple of days ago and I really enjoyed the reaction that I got from them. Nice thing about this is that it is a straight forward trick and simple to learn. I will be making some good use of this one.

This is similar to my 2003 trick called "FATE" that I came up with on a challenge to make something new with a pair of cheap dollar store decks of playing cards, one red back and one blue back. I have republished it in The Wizards' Journal #40, for those interested. One advantage Fate has over Choice is that you can go tablehopping with Fate- the card(s) chosen are different each time you perform it. It is also fun to do with two different backed Tarot Decks (Major Arcana only) or two different backed Gypsy Witch decks.

Don’t like this product at all, doesn’t look innovative nor new.
I’ve gone with David Parr's Copycat - what a lovely presentation. |

Then I had a sinking feeling, and sure enough, my expectations and reaction were exactly the same. $40 for this? Yes, I like the routine, I like the kicker, but this is one example of how magicians are the biggest suckers. Regardless of the "nothing new here" and similar reactions, this is very overpriced, in my opinion, and the review was SPOT ON. Yes, I will use it, but my main complaint is the price. |

Nice effect to do "you do as I do" routine! Yes, I love David Parr's Copy cat more because he teaches not just the trick but how to perform with all the subtleties which makes the act more beautiful.

I have waited to fully write a review on Jerome's "Choice". I must say that I really enjoy it and the reactions I get. I have had the trick now for a few months, but never got around to giving a review of it. It is simple, straightforward and I personally think an excellent trick. No sleights, no tricky moves. The reviews on the video get some not so great reviews, but if you just listen and learn, it is really easy. I know others have mentioned background noises, which, is totally true. But I would recommend this trick. Like I said, simple and to the point. These are tricks that I personally enjoy. I have seen other's post about David Parr's Copy Cat, which has my curiosity to check out next since I enjoy this trick so much.
