Love seeing new updates. Thanks, Matt. Downloading now!
There are several podcast players that you can subscribe to Mystery Arts with. I’ve been using Overcast for years and it supports multiple speeds and offline playback. The built-in podcast player on iPhones supports multiple speeds. Podcatcher apps are also available for desktop computers to download MP3 files. -jhs |

Latest episode is an interview with Neil Tobin - The Necromancer!
Listeners of the podcast will know that a recurring theme is the possibility of mentalism transcending what Neil calls 'The Parade of Tricks' and entering in to the realm of art. Well, this is something that Neil has been successful at. It was a very enriching conversation - I really enjoyed it. It's on all the usual podcatchers as well as here on SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/mysteryartspodcast/27-neil-tobin As you may have noticed, the episodes have been less frequent lately. Due to covid and other complicating factors, it's been difficult to get them out regularly. I will keep making episodes but they'll be as my time allows. As such I've paused the Patreon. I may start it up again later but for now I don't feel right about it. Thanks for listening! If you have any guest or topic suggestions, please let me know. Peace

Haven't seen a new episode in some time. Are you planning to come back to the project at some time? Taking a break or on to other things?
I hope you are well, whatever the status of the podcast may be. |

For one I have a lot less time because my kid is doing hybrid learning and I'm his main teacher 3 days a week. But also without any gigs and opportunities to perform, I have to admit I have been fairly uninspired. Having been in the art for so long, it's really the personal interaction that keeps me interested and engaged. So, yes, for now, the podcast is on hiatus. I'll leave the episodes up and I may well start it up again at some point if/when circumstances are more amenable. Thanks for all the support - I do see that people are still listening to episodes and I'm currently at 14.9k listens, total, so that is definitely wild to me. Cheers

Was wondering about the status of the podcast myself.
Coincidentally, I was recently thinking about you Last Laugh, as you used to post here quite regularly and I realized I hadn’t seen anything from you in ages. Glad to hear you are doing well. |

Maybe I'm wrong but it feels like the lockdown has brought a new influx of hobbyists to the field/forum. I'm glad new people are taking it up or finding interest again, but I've been lacking energy to be all that helpful with regard to that side of things. On the other hand, having a lot of space from the art and the community has definitely made me pensive and re-considering some the ways I have presented mentalism. As I've talked about a lot on the podcast, I've always been interested in how to take the mystery arts into a more artistic and ultimately spiritually uplifting place. I think it's pretty clear that the old school way of presenting mentalism isn't really that and there is - despite what some of us want to think - something potentially problematic in continuing down that road without constant questioning. Not necessarily for the reasons that are usually argued, but because the idea of playing it for real, presenting yourself as some type of special human is ultimately an egotistical process that often comes from deep insecurities and doesn't necessarily serve any bigger purpose. On the other hand, the idea of 'Sacred Deception' still seems to hold a lot of potential - especially since how we perceive and conceive of the universe is ultimately based on illusion. Philosophers, mystics, and scientists all can agree that the universe is most definitely not what we think it is. Neither are our selves or our consciousness... Anyway just mulling it all over from a 10,000 foot view. I'll let you know if I figure anything out, lol...

I just started listening and wanted to say you do a great job with the podcast. Going through the back episodes now. Hope you pick the project back up sometime in the future.
