Hey yall! Been lurking on here for like 8 months. Decided to come out of the shadows once and for all...Haha.
Been doing card magic/little bit of coin stuff for about a year now! I love it. When I first began I was once of those arrogant kinds of people. The "I know magical moves, and I'm better than you" kind of thing. Since then, I have realized that magic is an art. Just seeing people's faces light up (hopefully) is what it's all about. Not doing it to get attention, but show people stuff they just don't see it everyday. Excited to be here and to see your responses! Word up peeps! |

Welcome JoshDude849,
I don't think lurking for a while is a bad idea, although 8 months is a long time (but I lurked longer ). It is more fun once you've joined. I had no chance of being arrogant after only one year. LOL -Mary Mowder |

Welcome to the Magic Café forum. Nothing is greater than lighting up someone's face. Anyone who has ever played peek-a-boo with a small child understands how fun it is. Magic allows you to get that same experience with an adult.

I to agree as others have that it feels amazing to do an effect and know that you brought some creativity into someones day. Can you remember the performance that interested you in our arts? The feelings? Emotions? I hope that I may someday perform for people and have them react the way I do when I see some amazing magician do his act. Are there any particular routine or effect that is a favorite of your? We stand on shoulders of giants. Cheers. |

G'day Lizzard!
I have several friends 'down under" so I'm allowed to use that greeting 'cuz I live "up above", in the UPPER PENINSULA OF MICHIGAN, which means that I can drive SOUTH, 500 miles, and, enter CANADA! Recently, you greeted my young friend, Elisha, who lives in Zambia (which is "way over" to me) You complimented him about "creating EFFECTS". He will have some difficulty "CREATING" any new EFFECTS, as Dariel Fitzkee, in his "The Trick Brain" published in 1945, identified and listed all the EFFECTS KNOWN (19) which are possible, namely: PRODUCTION, VANISH, PENETRATION, RESTORATON, TRANSFORMATION, TRANSPOSITION, LEVITATION, ANIMATION, + a few more that I can't remember without referring to the op cit. So, welcome anyway to our motley crew!

I think with more fervor my guess is no more lurker guilt ha-ha, anyhow that is amazing to me to think of all the tricks there are, and they all fall into one of the categories you mentioned above, so I really appreciate the knowledge you dropped on me there it is a pleasure to speak to other magicians due to no local clubs near me this may be my only opportunity to speak to others in our brother hood and sister hood. One of the things on my goal list is to join a local magicians club and one day though it may only be a dream become a member of magic castle. |
