Just a quick post to tell you about another one of my new effects called Connected. It is super easy to do, fits in your wallet/purse and will last a lifetime.

DESCRIPTION:

One of the cleanest and easiest mind-reading effects ever created!

You hand someone a plastic card with colorful objects on one side and wheels on the other. They mentally select ANY object and then turn the card over. They are then asked to focus on the first letter of their object and tell you if it is present on any of the wheels. You then ask them to MENTALLY send you the object. You take a deep breath and INSTANTLY reveal the object that the spectator is thinking of!

Nice idea but can't see any spectator being blow away by this? They'll just think "oh the wheels correspond to the object chosen"

Hi Chamberlain, thank you for your message and feedback. I agree (to an extent), that most people will draw a correlation between the wheels, however, it still remains a mystery. The same is applicable to a number of mentalism effects, but with Connected once you have obtained the initial key info, you have plenty of time misdirection.

You ask them to send you various letters, the object and colors etc. If you proceed to draw the object on a pad of paper, this also elongates the effect and amplifies the end revelation. The good part is that I have designed the card so that all of the objects are easy to remember.

This effect works great for children as you don't need to worry about the card getting bent or damaged. I have also demo'd this at conventions, lectures and my local magic club. The simplicity, modest prices and the fact that it will last you a lifetime are great values to have. If you have some good patter, this is a little effect that will inevitably pack a punch when the moment calls.

Hi Sophocles, only one question is ever asked. From that tiny bit of information, you can tell what the object is immediately. However, you'll naturally want to build up to the reveal.

I'll be demonstrating this tonight at my lecture and it went down a storm at the Portsmouth Day of Magic yesterday.
