So...this is not a dot or a cross...it's spectator's own signature?!
https://www.penguinmagic.com/p/12709 "Presence is impactful and will definitely leave an impression on your audience!" - T.C. Tahoe Presence might be one of the strangest and strongest effects we have ever put on film. The biggest problem we had while making the trailer for Presence was everyone swearing and running away when G performed it! After letting your spectators examine some blank pieces of paper they sign one of them. You place their hand palm down on the table. After verifying that the signature is real the magician visually vanishes the signature from the business card. When the spectator picks up their hand their signature is now revealed to be underneath their hand and printed directly onto the table. G is known for his brilliant thinking and creative effects. Presence is no exception. The tutorial clocks in at over an hour, and includes how to perform the effect on a wide variety of surfaces, including black tabletops and metal surfaces and make their signature appear in a variety of colors. Plus G includes a variety of presentations and psychological touches for performance. Special gimmicks will be sent so that you’ll have everything to perform this powerhouse effect right out of the box. |

I have to also ask with the previous poster, does it wash off easily?
The difficult must become easy, the easy beautiful and the beautiful magical.

I'm assuming it can be removed easily with a pencil eraser, or washed away. I do not own this or know the exact method, but from watching the demo video, a possible method is clearly flashed to the spectators, which makes me think it's pencil markings.

It can be washed off very easily. To answer an earlier post, Emerge and Presence are different products. Presence has different content different methods and new principles added.
This is one of my favorite things we have filmed in the last 5 years.

I’ve got a feeling refills may be required. I hope I’m wrong.

A post on penguin stated that refills that are needed can be obtained at office supply retailers.

I can’t see it well in the trailer. Is the writing in the same handwriting as the specs? I thought it was gonna to appear in the hand, not just on a table...

Kinda cute, but really? This may seem like magic to the young audiences in the trailer, but for my regular audience of retired and semi-retired professionals this won’t play well at all! For the pre-xerox generation there’s nothing here that didn’t happen every day in the office... Oh and I assume Jay Sankey is credited...

I guess every laymen will find out quick that the signature apears exactly on the same spot he wrote on the paper before...
weak effect. and for sure not the strongest effect penguin ever put on film. how I start to hate this exaggerated advertisings! |

If the writing is very easy to remove, then this would be a good way to get a peek with proper management.
A very deceptive one at that.I would never reveal the writing on the table... Have them write while blocking with other hand and then have them cover the paper with blocking hand. Ask them to slide the covered paper toward them,as you help push their hand back with tips of the fingers of your hand, thus concealing the writing. They ball the paper up and it is lit and thrown in the air, destroying all evedence. Do your reveal... Steve |

Steve, there is a peek on the tutorial that is similar to what you are thinking of but in my opinion it is even more deceptive because there is no need to hide the writing.

Okay, let's get into detail on what this actually is.
This is a 76 minute video explaining a method with countless applications. You probably have everything you need to do the trick at home right now with the exception of the gimmicked pen. Penguin sends this out to you and explains that you can buy refills on Amazon, Walmart or virtually any office supply store. This will probably work with just about any stack of business cards (they could even have printing on them) but just in case Penguin has printed cards for you with G's exact specifications in mind. If you need more of the cards that G uses you can get them matched at an office supply store. To perform the simplest version of this all you need is a stack of business cards, a lighter and a pen. Extra gimmicks are discussed, if you want to make the writing appear in a different color, on a different surface, without a table, in an environment where fire is not appropriate and so on. Here's a quick FAQ Will it clean off of a table? Yes, as easily as pencil. Can it appear on other surfaces? Yes. Can it appear in another color? Yes. Can it be performed with black paper or appear on a dark surface? Yes. Yes. Do you need to use fire? No. How's the reset? An impromptu version is taught with an instant reset. Other ideas are discussed for storage. Let's break it down trick by trick. Presence - The spectator writes down their initials. They place their hand on the table. Their initials vanish as they are heated up by a lighter and they appear below the spectator's hand on the table. Everything ends clean. Prediction - No, table is needed. A prediction is placed out in the open. Any name is called out and written down by the mentalist to verify the spelling. This is discarded and the prediction is shown to be 100% correct. This is extremely clean. Impromptu - You set it up in performance. All you need is a lighter, the gimmicked pen, and a stack of cards No Table - The initials vanish from one piece of paper and appear on a piece of paper held in the spectator's hand. Ashes On Palm - You warm up your hand and ash appears. It then travels magically to the spectator's hand. This is based on the classic of course but all you need is a lighter and an easily prepared gimmick. No need for ash, lipstick, or chalk. Reincarnation - A word is written on a card. The spectator is asked to hold onto a blank card. The card with the spectator's word written on it is then burnt in full view. When they open their hand their word is back, written on the card they have been holding the entire time. No need for a table. Peek - A word is written down by the spectator and put away. The mentalist looks away. The spectator turns their back and the mentalist writes down their prediction. They match perfectly. This method can be used to make any borrowed book, or table into an impression device. The "impression" will not be seen by the spectator or magician until the magician wants it to be seen. Sugar - Their initials or an image can be revealed on the table in sugar, pepper, or ash. It's sprinkled on the table and when it is blown or brushed away it shows up. Switches, peeks, duplications, and revelations. Quote:
