According to Doug Scheer,we lost a legend today. Dick Oslund died 8 days shy of his 88th birthday.
Dick taught me an improved knot for a cut and restored rope routine that I still use today. I sometimes was frustrated with his responses on this board that I thought were less than helpful, but will miss his stories and hearing from his wealth of knowledge. RIP, Brother. |

Wow..so very saddened to hear this news. I only knew him through the Café, but always saw him as my magical Grandfather...always telling stories and always with great insight. He will be missed.

Oh no.
Sad sad news. So sad. 88 years years of love of Magic. I will always hear him laugh,.. here, through the Café... "Hee hee heee." He loved Magic. What an inspiration. What a loss. Dick Oslund..."Hee hee hee" ...it's hard to hide the tears. 'hee hee hee'. Gallagher |

What sad news indeed. Dick and I crossed paths a couple of decades ago and he was full of stories and helpful advice. We corresponded irregularly over the years until he finally joined the Magic Café' family then the PMs flew. I loved his help and I loved our arguments. He was a walking history lesson and probably the last of his kind of magician. He will be greatly missed.

Feel that a lot of knowledge and insight has now been lost.
However also grateful for Dick Oslund contributions to this forum, which is the only way I got to have valuable interactions with Dick Oslund. Peace and love

I miss him already. His teaching of new forum users or new to magic beginners about the difference between an EFFECT and a TRICK will be missed! He taught me that same lesson and I appreciated it, as I did everything he taught me.
He was as much a part of this site for me as the colour green. . . What do you mean you don't read? . You need to read FITZKEE - Dick Oslund, 2019. |

Oh no that is unfortunate. Dick was very active and helpful here. He was one of the ones who walked the walk. He will be missed.

Sad news. I was never fortunate enough to meet Dick but he helped me in many ways. My deepest condolences to his family.
