Yes. I visit random cemeteries occasionally during my road trips.
I look for old headstones with masonic symbolism and other interesting things. |

I knew a couple of gravediggers who experimented with explosives to loosen the ground to make it easier to dig and in the process blew their garden shed into their next doors garden and were arrested and charged with endangering life, among other things.

Great photos, Critter! My wife Leslie and I love old cemeteries.
Years ago, for the cover of our Make it Spooky music CD, we explored the Charter Street Cemetery in Salem, Mass, where some of the people executed as witches in 1692 are buried. Several of the headstones, although now decrepit and falling apart, are still so beautiful and intriguing. Leslie took several photos and one of those pics became our CD cover. See here: http://www.arthurstead.com/Make_it_Spooky.htm It was already dusk when we were wandering through the cemetery, looking for the perfect headstone to photograph. It was an eerie feeling because no one else was around, and also because we were very aware of the history and the circumstances of some of the deceased people’s deaths. As we passed by one particular grave, suddenly, Leslie felt one of her legs sinking deep down into the earth. She claims it felt as if someone had pulled her by the ankle. I had to help extricate her leg from the newly formed hole. Needless to say, the event sent shivers down our spines, and as a consequence added extra significance to our CD cover photo. |

That's rad! Salem is someplace I'd like to see sometime.

Someone said there was a black bear peering over a gravestone at Malloch Rd. cemetary here a few days ago.
Out and about due to construction disturbances, apparently. It walked away when it saw people approaching. I might take a walk out that way if there's a chance of meeting a bear and getting some photos, especially this time of year. |

There was bear scat in two of these cemeteries yesterday. They were practically in people's backyards. Will say one of them needs to muck out their stalls, that was some stank.
Frequently see deer, caribou, turkey, etc.

Do these animals have high-pitch squeaky and low droning voices?

Hey Critter, some nice photos there.
Thanks. I have a little photo for ya,.. altho somewhat 'magical',.. 😕 and I know which Forum we're in.. 🙁 ,..and a bit of a story,....to 'explain' things. ☹️ You're warned. 😞 Olof Becher, in the 1950´s, bought, Germany´s leading Magician, Fredo Marvelli's show. Olof dubbed himself,.. Marvelli jr. 'Jr.' had a successful torn. Varieté theaters, TV,....a traveling tent Show. That´s where we met, ..between the stakes, poles, and canvas. Our 'introduction', under the Europabrucke, in Mannheim. He had set up his tent,.. in "MY" parking spot(!), ...one day in the early 1987. We agreed, each other "could stay". I was 'aloud', to park 'next to him', ...in the furthest back corner. AND, gave me a free ticket, for the Show(!), ...in the furthest back corner. He loved stories, stories, stories. Before, between,..and after Shows; sharing, telling, and trading the tales. He was truely a man of 'Wunder' and 'Wonder'. Lastly, he would inevitably say, "You know, Bartolomeo Bosco was 'the King of the Streets'. Ahh,. to have looked over Bosco left shoulder, .....WHILE he was performing!..!" "Bartolomeo Bosco, 'til the mid-1850s, tread market squares, city centers, thuroughfares and palace courts. ...open-air performing. Luring the curious, ..and open-minded; princes, peasents, and peabodys. ,...for pennys pitched. Ahh, to look over Bosco´s left shoulder, while he performed the cups and balls!" Olof Becher went broke in 1998. Not enough 'pennys were pitched'. He lost everything, to age,.. and, to the 'genii in the bottle'. The one that never comes out. In 2008, he died; .a clear head stored with stories. ..a heart full of dreams,..many lived. ...two pockets full of empty. ,...in a Münich lonely-folks home. His Testament was opened,.. and to the world´s surprise; he had saved his 'best' until the last. No illusion: he had seduced together every pfennig he could smell, tickle, or touch; and bought a grave site, in Dresden. Dresden? `Alten Katholischen Friedhof´. Plot 218. ...two meters to the left, one step abath, ...from Bartolomeo's grave. "... ah, to look over Bosco´s left shoulder." . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . a look 'over the shoulder'. https://flic.kr/p/nQPJdd . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Perhaps the most beautiful tomb in the world is that of Agostino Chigi il Magnifico the banker
