Hi what is the name of the Daryl trick where you cut the deck with one hand and the selection spins out to the other hand?
Forgot good trick. |

Jaschris - your experience highlights something important.
When learning a difficult move, you need to isolate the variables i.e. hand and finger positions, condition of cards, type of cards etc. When things are not working properly, you try varying one of the variables e.g. how deeply you're holding the deck etc. See if that helps. Sooner or later, you should experience a successful run. This happened to me with the Faro shuffle. I kept trying and failing. There would always be discrepancies. However, as I tried varying things a bit, the number of discrepancies lessened. Finally, I had one successful shuffle! That proved that I could do it. It wasn't long after that, that many of the shuffles were perfect. Finally, most were perfect and I felt that I could actually use the Faro shuffle in the "real world." So, the message is - don't give up. Try isolating the variables and make small changes in them until you succeed. Mike

I then challenged myself and practiced the moves with the other hand. It was very helpful to copy the finger positions and deck positioning comparing the two. Congrats on YOUR perseverance Jaschris.

Can anyone recommend a source to learn this with the riffle intro?

Perseverance does pay dividends but rather than just dumb luck, I prefer Mike Powers’s suggestion. Try various things and study the impact, whether what you try helps or doesn’t.
If I struggle with something and finally master it, I’d like to understand why. That knowledge might pay dividends in other areas.
It's never crowded on the extra mile....
