Give 'em to me...
Seriously, are you looking to unload them? Not really interested in the Linking Rings, but perhaps The Sphinx issues to fill holes... Andrew |

Whatever you do, DON'T throw them away. I always try to read as many "old" Magic magazines that I can get my hands on. Some of the "new" effects that come out now and then are actually not new at all but are old and forgotten effects or an old effect with a new twist added to bring it up to date.
If you really don't want your publications or simply have too many and not enough room to keep them, put them up for sale or free here at the Café' or on E-Bay or do as some of the great Magician's at Ring 339 do and take some for givaways at your next Ring meeting, others will be very gratefull for your contribution. As with any potential "collectible", the magazines are worth what someone will pay for them. I notice that specific issues of Linking Rings, MUM, etc. that are posted on Ebay with a dollar or two starting bid often go by without a nibble. Older lots of magazines occasionally seem to do better. Independents like Sphinx or Genii also are more likely to get bids than the club journals. I was in a large used general bookstore in Syracuse, N. Y. last year that had several dozen Linking Rings from recent to old. The proprietor was asking from $4 to $8 a copy. I was in town again this year and stopped by. It looked to me like they were all still there.
Like Iven's fellow club memebrs, many Ring 278 members give their oldies to neophyte members as a gesture of good will. Better then ending up in some public used bookstore. I must admit I am a hoarder and have collections going back quite a ways. After all, there are hundreds of "gems" in there that I was really going to follow up on. I suppose someday my widow will find an appropriate way of disposing of them. |

I agree with Iven. There is to much good information on these old periodicals to be lost. If you don't want them anymore, either sell them or give them to another magician. Also check with MH Magic Magazines. He specializes in old magic magazines. You can sell them to him.
