You can be hypnotized without your consent.
You cannot be hypnotized against your will! There are many techniques for rapid induction hypnosis, though if some of them don't work you're in for a lawsuit. Once under hypnosis, you cannot be induced to do anything that is against your basic belief pattern. Your sense of how you appear to those around you is lessened or at least focused, but your basic ideas of right and wrong are not changed. |

A talented operator can change your belief pattern while you are hypnotized. And you will think it is your own idea.
I find that many subjects will surrender completely to trance, because they feel that they can do anything they are told and they will not be held accountable. Let's do a little survey: How many people here have been conned (and know it)? |

That just means you have found some irresponsible people to hypnotize. Their basic beliefs haven't changed, you've just given them an excuse. It is often the same mentality of people who throw rocks when in a mob situation even though they are law abiding normally.
I'm not referring to NLP ideas about held beliefs (belief patterns) but more basic or core beliefs such as right and wrong. If you couldn't get them to alter their beliefs in facts or ideas about their surroundings, there wouldn't be hypnosis shows. |

I promised to update so here it is.
I asked around on the mailing list I am on and got one answer with references to two books. Maybe you guys already have read them, maybe they don't even apply but here they are anyway: Emotional Vampires: Dealing With People Who Drain You Dry by Albert, Ph.D. Bernstein, Albert J. Bernstein ISBN: 0071381678 http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/det......;s=books and The Complete Idiot's Guide To Frauds, Scams, and Cons by Duane Swierczynski ISBN: 0028644158 http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/det......;s=books // dennis |

Thanks.
I guess I'll better hit the books. Perhaps those above and certainly some tomes on hypnosis. I believe that it was stated several times that Ormond McGill is the best to start with. Sometimes a certain Kurt Tepperwein is recommended too. So, that's where I'll start. Thanks !

Do get the newest edition of the book. See the ad at amazon.com for an image and details. There was a lot added in the new edition. Also be aware that some of the other books by McGill are more about some of the other beliefs that he developed later in life.

I agree with MesmerEyes. You can be put into a very suggestive state without consent, as long as you are willing. People do it all the time, from the home shopping network to visualization therapy to teachers.
Tell them any name other than hypnosis, and the alarm bells do not seem to go off for them. Provide visualization images that they can agree with, get them to agree with things you say, then continue with what you want them to agree with, if done well, they are not only not consenting, they are not aware!
