The only ESP Card Effect I do is Rhine's Revenge by Clint Barron. I'm interested in Peter Turner's "Tattle Tail" and Michael Murray's "Tattle Tailed" but unsure of the difference between the 2 effects? Can anyone please enlighten me?

To me whatever it's name goes by and whomever invented it the 5 card match up is the standard. You can make it longer, you can add more math and counting. You can add more cards you can add colors etc. But the original rational for the 5 symbols was that of simplicity. So, why not keep it simple?
But you can disregard this post because I'm just an innocent bystander. |

I thought 'Jazz Mentalism' was by Dave Humphrey, only sold by Murray? Pete has a wonderful ESP matchup effect on Bigger Fish Files that has a lovely kicker on the end to take it in a different direction, that would be my recommendation if you can find a copy of BFF.

'Jazz Mentalism' is indeed by, Dave Humphrey, and produced and sold by Michael Murray.
Michael, is in the final stages of finishing a new filming studio and will hopefully be able to complete his new handling and routining for his latest ESP matchup effect 'Serendipity'. |

Hi gents done history on the subject -
Jazz Mentalism is indeed Dave Humphrey’s (a close friend of mine for many years). Jazz mentalism predates Rhines Revenge (Clint wasn’t aware of Dave’s routine when he released his). Charlie Frye learned Jazz Mentalism and added some nice touches to it and then Card Shark released it as ESPionage (thankfully they have now updated their crediting on the site to reflect this. Although I am unsure if he has ever published it Mark Salem has been using a match up routine on the same veign of his own creation for many years too. Jan Forster also shared his handling of this effect on the Café which has some very nice touches too. From memory the core method used in all of these was first explored by Karl Fulves (although I could be mistaken here). Anyway, I digress... What set Peter Turners Tattle Tale apart from all of the above was the fact that the match up takes place out of the participants hands and in his effect, it is only the two participants that handle the cards. Pete’s effect also came with such a beautiful script that really helps to elevate this piece on an emotional level. Note: Pete’s effect was originally taught in his book Bigger Fish. I found myself very much inspired by Pete’s Tattle Tail effect but wasn’t a fan of the method. As such I created an alternative way of achieving the ESP match up that can be performed with the cards out of the mentalists hands (between two participants). Pete very kindly allowed me to emulate his beautiful script and thus Tattle TAILED was born. So in short, my Tattle Tailed effect is the same as Pete’s with the exception of the method which is completely different. On the Bigger Fish Files Pete taught Jazz Mentalism (with Dave’s blessing (he was on set during the filming) and he also taught his Sweet Force of Mine which had the bonus ending and was more of a psychological force approach to the Jazz Mentalism plot. In short both routines on the BFF were performed between the performer and a participant (unlike Tattle Tail/ed). As Rasp mentions I will be releasing an updated version of Tattle Tailed soon which is titled ‘Serendipity’. This also comes with a completely different script and a change in handling and has served me very well over the past few years. Best Wishes to All!

Hey Michael, So if you had ten ESP cards and someone asked you to perform something. Which would you do?
For me it's Jazz mentalism every time although I'm unaware of tattle tail(ed), using your naked ESP cards btw (the best M****d ESP cards I've ever used). |

Hi Ed, many thanks for the support and I am pleased that you like the cards too. I have performed Jazz Mentalism thousands of times myself and it is indeed a superb effect. If I am performing one on one or for a group of friends then Jazz Mentalism is my go to ESP routine. If I am performing for a couple then I will always revert to Tattle Tailed/Serendipity

I understand tattle tail is done under the table. Is this the same for Tattle Tailed?

Well Ive managed to acquire Peter's book Bigger Fish and am waiting for a copy of Bigger Fish 2 to arrive from overseas. Im curious as to how much crossover there is in material compared to Devil in disguise and Jinxed. Any thoughts would be welcome.
