IMPOSSIBLE is a card matching effect. Where the sequence of the cards you set down match your volunteer’s. The routine will be different every time you perform the effect as there is some Jazzing involved. There is No reset. You just put the cards away and it’s immediately ready to be performed again. Participants can casually examine the cards. They hold it in their hand. But you need a table to perform (may or may not be a disadvantage) Most reviews I have seen complain about the quality of the cards and that it uses low-quality card stock. The cards are not Bicycle stock or USPCC quality. It’s thin card stock with some sort of matte coating. They spread and shuffle just fine. I have found that they are not as terrible as made out to be. Regardless of the quality of the cards, they are going to be handled by your audience and they WILL get bent and soiled. The price point makes it affordable to replace. The instructional video you get is not great. It’s a basic, single-shot tutorial. Hank tried his best and made the tutorial in English but English is not Hank’s first language. Therefore, the tutorial may be hard to follow for some. In My opinion, this is a very nice effect that will be part of my everyday carry.

To each his own, but with the set I purchased, there is NO WAY you can casually react to your volunteer quickly and smoothly, nor can the spectator shuffle his cards, lay one card down, etc. with these cards. Impossible. This release is a disaster, your mileage may vary.

The card quality (IMO) isn't as much of an issue as the online instructions. The instructions don't teach the effect in the trailer - where the magician places his card down first and when the spectator does - they still match. Not only is this done once but several times. I don't think that is possible in real world situations, which makes the trailer (my main reason for purchasing the trick) sort of misleading.

The trailer is definitely the "best case scenario". I stand by my July 31 comments.

The trailer showing the best case scenario is very misleading.
The card stock is also of poor quality. Save your money. |

Coming late to this discussion... how do I access the directions if the QR code was too damaged for my phone to read it?

I actually got this free by accident. Penguin sent this to the wrong house (my place near Dallas instead of a small town in GA. I contacted Penguin and asked if they want me to send this back to them. They said to keep it. So I got this and two sets of Zombie Monte cards for free. They then sent me links to the instructions.
I thought these effects were cheap looking and would suck. Zombie Monte is actually awesome, the cards are great quality, and the story is perfectly engaging, especially during this time of year. I know that I didn't pay for these thanks to a mix up, but they are great value. Now, the Impossible cards are a different story. These are not the air finished or high quality cards I am used to like Bicycle cards and various Zener related cards I have purchased from Michael Murray(Beyond ESP 2, Zener Tester Cards), or other types of cards I have bought to perform mentalism. These cards feel cheap. As for the effect, it is a best case scenario what we saw in the trailer. I need to play with these more to see if this trick is salvageable. It is too early to tell since I haven't put any time in it.. |
