Hi Guys,
I'm only 20 and am on holiday from university, where I have been performing at various functions. I'm now at home, and have applied to an entertainment agency for work, and they have asked me to compile a CV for them. I was just wondering if you had any advice on making this, and whether to put in a repetoire and so on. They also requested a photo, and I was just wondering the best way to do this- DJ and fan of cards? Any advice would be useful from some of the older hands! Thank you, Simon |

Hello.
Forgive me for being dumb, you said that you were 20, well I am 46 and I do not know what CV is, or stands for. (I know that my car has a CV joint) If you were to enlighten me, I might be able to help you. Ray |

CV (Curriculum vitae) is newspeak. It's the same thing as a resume.

Simon,
I think that the best thing you can do is to perform something "apparently" impromptu when you go to the agency... Pictures and CV surely help but in my experience, I got a lot of job in those agency in which it was "love at first sight" between me and the boss... in other agencies (with the same CV and the same pics) work was rare... One thing I suggest you is to avoid an excess of "tecnical terms" (you are a magician...that's all!!! you are not a "cardician" or a "money magic man" or what else...). To list your previous show could be useful if the list is "a good list" otherwise.... As reguard the pics... in a CV I prefer live pictures with the audience rather than "pose pics"... that's my two cent. ciao Mauro PS sorry for my broken english... I hope you equally got it. |

Thanks for the help guys. Definitely use an 'action' photo, as it were. They've asked me to e-mail the cv, which makes doing some effects impossible, so I was wondering if I should include a repertoire.
Thanks again, Simon |
