I have been filming what originally was going to be a promo but it is going so well we might make a half an hour program (how do you go about getting authorisation from people to be on tv ) what has to be on the form , and also if I want to sell program to tv ,what does the quality have to be like ? I have a pro guy with cam about £3000 and editing gear and it looks just the same as any tv program when I watch it ?

YOu must have standard color bars and a 1 kHz lineup tone at the start of your tape for a tv station to do color balance. They generally also will want the copy on DigiBeta. If your camera guy is a pro, he should be able to do this for you. Get in touch with a station though, as they may have slightly different preferences. There are standars for what is "Broadcast Quality" though.
For the spectators, you need a release form that basically says you have the right to use their likeness, image, voice, etc for the program and any advertising for the program. If someone does no agree to sign a release, you'll have to edit around them or blur them out. For specific detials a TV station should have that as well if they do things like interviews (a news channel should be able to help). Hope this is of some help. Kevin

You have to make a contract/release form (one page) where you have a place for their signature. Explain what you are doing with the show, and that when they sign they are waving any right to sue you for being on TV. You can download templates online.

Can you make your own contract/release or do you have to use a certain one?

I've been part of a reality T.V. show before. What our segment producers did is simply ask the people if it's ok for them to be on T.V.. Most of the people simply said yes. If they didn't want their faces to be seen on T.V., most of the time they will tell immediately before you ask them... I didn't see any written release form every time we shoot an episode... I don't know if it's applicable to your country.......
when love and skill work together expect a masterpiece!

Yeh I was going to say you would have to check the laws in your counrty. If you contact the TV station they should know something about it, or else go see a lawyer to help you who specialises in this area
