Fragment - Abstract Effects
$30.00 https://www.murphysmagic.com/product.aspx?id=66771 The Hype: Fragment is a clever and practical approach to the visual appearing deck effect, including additional applications such as smooth transpositions and deck vanishes utilizing the Fragment gimmick. This is a collaboration from the entire Abstract Effects team teaching you how to use the Fragment gimmick in detail, including over 10 unique, surprising variations and ideas! The main effect is an extremely visual and fair transposition of a full deck of cards with your spectators signed selection that will leave your audience stunned! It's great for live performances and is absolute gold for your social media! With Fragment there is something for everyone. Not only are over 10 variations taught in the instructional video, but Nicholas Lawrence teaches a very special bonus effect that works perfectly with Fragment! My Take: This new deck from Abstract Effects looks really good. The video makes it look somewhat difficult to do but it actually is not. The routines are taught on a 42 minute downloaded video. I didn't feel the video was up to their usual standards but it teaches everything you need to know. On several of the segments, a window must have been left unshaded because the glare on the table makes it hard to see everything. Some of it is washed out but this is really a minor concern. Deck and Card Transpo - Standard magician in trouble plot. A card is selected and returned. The magician puts the deck behind his back and brings out one card. The wrong one. Immediately the one card turns into the full deck and the right card is brought out of the pocket being the only card left there. Spreading and picking up deck - When I first saw the deck I had my doubts as to whether it would really fool someone. My doubts were misplaced. You are taught just how the cards needed to be handled to accomplish a miracle. Toss Appearance - Now this is cool, You show only a single card, then toss the deck into a ribbon spread. The card has turned into a complete deck. It looks like this is going to take a little practice to get it smooth but not to worry. I was able to do a decent version on the first try. I am sure with practice it will be deadly. Justin Flom has used this on his social media. Spread Appearance - Pretty much the same as the Toss Appearance but you do a manual ribbon spread. Very pretty. Hover Spread Appearance - The cards are once again spread but this time the hand remains about an inch above the surface and the cards are just released as the hand moves. Fan Appearance - This one will take a little more practice. You show a single card then immediately do a full fan. Fan Vanish - Now this should come as no surprise but it is basically the opposite of the Fan Appearance. After doing the Appearance, the fan is collapsed back into a single card which is given out to be examined. This one will take a little stronger card skills. Compression Vanish - This one I really like. You show a full deck and then just by squeezing, it is a little thinner. After several squeezes, you end with a single card. Rising Card - The simplest version of this classic that you will ever see. The card actually rises from the center of the deck and the edge of the full deck is shown with the selected card coming right out of the middle. I think this version has the potential to really fry some of your magic buddies. Inflated Deck Idea - This uses the standard move of squeezing the deck to put air between the cardsmaking it appear as if the deck has grown. You then make all of the cards save one disappear. And now, for the bonus Nick Lawrence effect. Portal Pack - As you might guess, a magic trick that involves the word "portal" will grab my attention. This has the potential for being a knuckle buster but if you take the time to learn it it is a beautiful effect. One hand holds a full deck and the other a single card. Then the full deck moves to the other hand leaving a single card behind.. And the shocking thing? This doesn't use the Fragment gimmick. It is just an ordinary deck transformed though a combination of skill and clever thinking. This is a pretty clever effect and I would recommend it. Not that hard to do and it does make an impression. A single card turning into a full deck has been done before but not with this method and I do like clever thinking. You will have fun playing with this one. |
