I know that Eddie's death is getting all of the publicity and condolences, but Johnny Nash also passed away today.
While VH is more my type of music, I really liked Nash a lot. Two greats gone on the same day. Rest in peace to you both.

This is the sort of stuff my mom used to listen to when I was very young so I know it well, even though it's not the sort of thing I go out of my way to listen to now. Up until very recently, I still had the vinyl downstairs.
Rest in peace. |

Agreed, Michael.
Like I said, not really my kind of music (the wife likes it more than me), but it grew on me over the years. I didn't like him years ago, but I matured. He covered several Bob Marley tunes, and did them very well, in my opinion.

Not a big fan, but he certainly had a good voice. In the early 1970’s, hundreds of cover bands had to play I Can See Clearly Now.
RIP, Johnny. |

Johnny's legacy in pop music is secure. He isn't on the top rung of music 'immortality', but he's still on the ladder, which is an incredible (and deserved) achievement. RIP.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

We love Reggae here in Birmingham and Johnny Nash, may he rest in peace, brings back some nice memories of the 70s clubs here. They say Johnny Nash was the first none Jamaican to record Reggae in Jamaica. We know the UB40 boys and I guess he inspired them.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Altough the cover band I play with (Starlings) is now on a bit of hiatus because of covid, I can See Clearly is CURRENTLY in our playbook. Johnny Nash (and Millie Small) were among the first musicians to bring the reggae beat to the US (and perhaps the British Isles as well as Tommy alluded to in his post). Indeed, he did have a beautiful voice for a beautiful song. Lynn |
