Hi everybody,
I looked at a number of FTL tricks, and in all of them, the magician turns up one black card and one red after each switch of the leader cards. That may well fly, because before all the switching the magi gives the spectator the impression that all the red cards are in one pile and all the black are in another. But I wondered whether anyone has come up with a variation in which, after each switch, you can turn over more than one card from each pile. I'd think that would be more convincing...? Thanks, Bob |

Just occurred to me -- maybe there's a way to use a false display to show that *all* the cards have switched.

In Roberto Giobbi version he shows a couple of cards at a time. Penguin sells it as a download.
And there is this by Bebel not sure if in print or where it can be found. https://youtu.be/LfyqzdLGVvo |

Thanks, Magico. Wow! Bebel's routine is beautiful! Just what I had in mind. And he's so funny! If I can find his trick, I'll certainly adopt the business where the leader cards "walk" to their new positions. I hope I can find it somewhere, preferably with English instructions.
I had watched the performance video of Giobbi's version on Penguin; it went by fast enough that I didn't notice that he showed more than one card of each color at a time. Sounds like it's worth another look. Bob |

I googled Bebel's effect and looked for it on Dennis Behr's site. No luck. If anyone knows of a place where the work has been explained, please let me know.

Here's my take on this. Based on the work of Darwin and Lance Pierce.

Thanks miloppo, Lithingorf, and Ed. As far as I can tell, Bebel's handling hasn't been published. But, after watching the versions by Tamariz and Giobbi a second time, I'm going to give those two a try. I don't know if I have the creativity to combine and modify their routines to produce something like Bebel's, but both are good so it doesn't really matter.
And Ed, I enjoyed your presentation. I love how you keep saying, "I want to be fair" with a completely serious face and tone of voice while all kinds of crazy thing are happening. Funny! Bob |
