Hi! Everyone.
I'm new to the card magic. How everyone load a palmed card to your hip style wallet? I usually use bottom palm, and Load to Real Man's Wallet. But it takes 5 seconds to load a card. (>o<) Is that normal? or Should I practice more? Could you advise? Posted: Jun 15, 2004 4:09am -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oops! Sorry my English ability is not good. Could you give me some advice? Which palm should I use? Which DVD should I watch? How can I use misdirection? etc.

I can't see what possible difference the palm would make - you just have to get the card to the wallet. You don't need to watch a DVD - some things (most things) you just have to work out by trying. It shouldn't take 5 whole seconds. You need to practice loading your wallet more - I'd use the back pocket or an inside jacket pocket. I have a wallet just like the real-man's one and it takes a second or two. Try 100 practice loads and you'll be faster.
Strong misdirection is key. Try palming whilst asking them a question and handing the pack to them and getting them to shuffle or something whilst you get your wallet out. Check out Simon Lovell's Simon Says book for some strongly misdirected ideas on card to wallet. |

Hi! Nail. Thank you for your help.
When I saw Eric DeCamps's handling, I was surprised that he loaded a card so quickly.(He is using Kap's type wallet inside his jacket) So I thought there are some way to load a card to back pocket also. I see.(^o^) I'm going to try a 100 practices! Thank you again!

There are wallets for that purpose. Card goes right in. They are advertised online.

Mark Wilson's Complete Course In Magic has a good Card in Wallet with no palming.

If your wallet is inside your jacket, ala the Kaps wallet... there is a GUIDE to help you get it in the right place.
The hip pocket wallets should work best with a gambler's cop. Practice, re-locate or adjust and practice more. Misdirection can help, some kind of activity. like having spectator deal cards, shuffle, or??? will take time and keep attention away from you.

I use my Real Man's wallet as a kicker to Carlyle's Homing Card. As such, I keep the wallet in my front right pocket. It kills.

I think if you just practice it multiple times every day, you will get faster and faster. But, don't forget that you still want all your moves to look natural. Natural is better than fast. I think fast movements (I know that the same as being able to load fast) can be one of the biggest tip offs to an audience that something "funky" is happening.

I often use a Real Man's Wallet and recommend using a credit card or business card as a guide. I use my business card (the thicker and stiffer the business card, the better), and practice loading so that the chosen signed card ends up face-down underneath my face-up business card.
So when the wallet is opened, they see my business card, and something else (?) under it. This means that I MUST take out my business card and hand it to someone (!) before I can remove the playing card from the window compartment. Great way to give out a business card without being pushy. Hope this helps, |

I use a Jery O'Connell Basic Wallet, when wearing a jacket. The loading is instantaneous.

Yes, practice more! Spend less time here and more time practicing. If we all did that, we'd be better magicians.
