An effect like this stands or falls by the attention to detail that convinces the audience they aren't dealing with a magic prop. That's why the spelling mistakes were unacceptable.
Making it look more like a page torn from a magazine is a very good idea. People often tear items from magazines and newspapers. They don't tend to tear pages out of books, which is why none of the effects sold using torn out book-pages ever made much sense to me. |

Being in the publishing business, just a tip:
Please make the tear in the correct place. Note the page numbers at the bottom, and if you loook att the odd page, 37, make the tear on the left edge. Odd page numbers are "right" pages, even page numbers are on the"left" side in a book, newspaper, magazine etc. |

Tearing the other side would mean that if in a real magazine, lists 6-10 would come before lists 1-5, which would be extremely odd for a magazine to do. The odds of a printing error such as that happening in a real magazine are about a million to one, or about the same odds as a spectator ever noticing that your sheet is torn on the wrong side were you to do that. 😃 But still, small details are important and it’s just as easy to do it the correct way. |

(A printer's name for putting page nambers in books, magazines etc.) There is a little home made publisher in every computer owner and in programs like Word, there is an auto option. And you never know, there is a high possibility that someone in the audience might be a printer, of any kind! Ok, even if English is not my native lingo, I have heard of Gilding the Lily... |

I don't think the tear makes any difference since I have folded the page an put it in my wallet. I like this yet to try it in the real world.

The funny thing about the spelling errors, until I read the latest on this thread I assumed it was a deliberate mistake, a jab a the low quality editing and checking on the type of magazine this would have been torn from. To be honest I think I actually like the mistakes better LOL

Being in the publishing industry a huge amount of checking takes place. Mistakes, and certainly spelling ones, hardly ever happen in commercial publications.

I've noticed this seems to happen a lot in mentalism effects released by magicians. I sometimes wonder if it is a difference in approach and a lack of understanding of how important it is in mentalism that any items you are using have to appear as completely normal and have absolutely no hint of a prop about them. That stricture obviously doesn't always apply in magic where an audience knows such things as magic "props" are part and parcel of the entertainment. |

Hey guys. I just wanted to say thanks for all of the positive comments. And for everybody that’s messaged me thank you so much.
It’s great to see so many people enjoying gossip and making it their own. I wanted to let you know that recently I’ve been performing the psychic drawing version that Peter mentioned on the download and it absolutely kills. When you draw the picture of the stick man and turn it around it’s as funny as the baby gag. And then you just move your fingers out the way and you hit them with the name of that celebrity. It works really well. Also for anyone that came to my Alakazam coin magic Academy I shared a routine called Elvis coin. Well I’ve had the coins made up to be able to do gossip as well. I have a very simple index in my pocket of the five coins with the five celebrities printed on them. I can do exactly the same routine but give people a completely free choice of the person who is going to end it printed on the coin. Anyway thanks again for the kind words and I hope everyone is safe and well |

Right I performed this today for two of my work mates,i beta test a lot of my stuff and New stuff out to them.Today I had the best outcome scenario, I took out the page from a large Envelope, left it on the table with a large playing card pocking out, I got one to shuffle a normal sized deck with 54 mixed sex Celebs written on them, after the peformance out came the large card and then the baby photo gag,yup BANG on and so was the cards chosen, all Examinable no fishing just told them to pick their own numbers, no long or short name guessing,i will just reset and go again, yes I have missed some out, well because we all do our own Routines and have our own spin on things and it's not too hard to figure out what I am doing to you fellow Magicians, can't wait to get out giging this.
Good Magic to ALL |

Would love to see a list of this ,going the other way, opposite so to speak, without giving too much a way ,plus a few sheets of different names,Plus it would eliminate a little if people followed you from a table on to another as repeating this I don't like.
Absolutely love this, best trick so far of the year for me and with a little spin of mine on Peter Nardis Handling ,this slays the punters. |
