I admit, I love magic switchboards, I collect them and use them in every show , and it is my go to effect for when asked to do a little magic. This thread is to talk about the Cobra Magic Switchboard. My likes . It’s small size, about the size of a deck of cards, it is the easiest of all the ones I have seen, but it is the kicker end that sets it apart from the others, this part alone is awesome, and finally the price is the lowest of all the switchboards. So those are the pros, what are the negatives. At first I thought it felt a little fragile, but in reality there’s nothing fragile about it, there is no glass or bulbs to break, it’s all durable plastic and LED lights. All in all, I give it a 10 out of 10. See for yourself and please share your thoughts.

It's probably my failing, but considering now I can just turn lights on and off in my house my asking Siri, I just can't see how audiences are interested in things like this. Maybe in the 40s or whenever they came out, before wireless smart bulbs were a thing, it would have rocked. But today? I just don't get it.

I imagine you could say this about most tricks, it comes down to presentation, and the trick is simply a catalyst. In this case , there is plenty of positive motivation.

Indeed. But, it’s a magicians toy. Everyone who purchased $tamp will also buy this, as they do with the latest wallets.

Lets agree to disagree, as I use the switchboard in every show I do.

Thankfully we all differ in our opinions as to what makes strong magic, otherwise we'd all be performing the same trick. I see these things as nothing more than an electronic puzzle, if you can get them to work as magic then that's cool. The only thing I'd suggest is something I started doing a few years ago; employ someone, or get a friend to mingle with your audience during the interval and at the end and hear what they honestly think when chatting amongst themselves. My honest, and often incorrect, opinion is that you may be in for a rude awakening when it comes to these switchboards. |

I have this and Martin's and a couple of others This is a a fun version with an easy to learn sequence and a nice ending. I have the original version and still use the "Smart Circuts" presentation hook I shared in the original thread for the Cobra version. Martin's version is pretty amazing in the variations that are possible. The small downside is the learning curve and memory work needed are steeper.
