There is a great, but I believe Out of Print, book called BELIEVE about the relationship and adventures of Houdini and Doyle. I really enjoyed it. Twasn't a big seller, but deals a lot with Houdini life and events that most people aren't aware of or interested in.
It is by William Shatner and Michael Tobias Also the Valentine Trilogy by Robert Silverberg deals fascinatingly with magical juggling. Quite unusual and a GREAT adventure.

Not sure if this is what you ment but The Practitioner by Eugene Poinc is a book with story's about a magician called The Practitioner.
Although at the end of each story Eugene tells what you need to do the effect from the story but not the secret, it's a very good read and quite dark too, just a thought |
