I'm curious how everyone's gigs have been doing this summer. I was worried about it in the winter because of Covid, but it turns out this has been my busiest summer in over 15 years. Most people just had their events outdoors instead of sometimes doing indoors, though I did some indoor stuff also. The heat and humidity really sucked for me, I don't do well in the heat, and I limit my daily summer gigs due to that, but still I was really busy with birthdays, preschools and camps. I din't get asked to do any company picnics or open houses like I usually do, I had a few Covid cancellations, but there was plenty of other stuff anyway. We have a very high vaccination rate around here, so people were less worried, though with the Delta variant, etc, people are getting more nerveous again.

I haven't added up the figures yet but I suspect this was one of my busiest summers ever. Probably the busiest.
For the vast majority life has returned to normal. The one sector of the population that had not is children because they have not been vaccinated. I see tight restrictions in regulated institutions. At some of my summer camps there was a mask on every child, and I had to wear mask the entire show also, even if the show was outdoors! And yet, in other less regulated summer camps there was not a mask to be seen. Going forward I suspect my weekend business will continue to be very strong, but school assemblies are still a big mystery.

I felt retiring at times because I never had a summer as busy. I had to cut back on a lot of things because I was so busy. I had times performing 1 - 4 shows a day for over 20 days in a row. There has been a big drop in September.
I did Zoom shows also. Performing on Zoom was easier than I expected. |

Interesting that you guys were really busy also, it's good, but I did get really burnt out. I guess the party/camp/preschool increases were partially a reaction to being tired of Covid restrictions and maybe having more money due to not going out as much, etc. I suspect it will stay busy till the end of October when it cools down too much to do outdoor stuff. I'm concerned winter and early spring will be slower than usual, but you never know.
