For platform and parlor I am currently starting one of two ways:
Fantasio color changing cane to silks into twentieth century silks Or flash paper, vanishing torch to silk + flower to silk into twentieth century silk Either of these is followed by a Norm Nielson Deluxe Spot card with a Ross and Abbott handling and Dick Oslund "illusion routine" patter. My favorite opener to see performed is Johnny Ace Palmer's. It fits him perfectly quote]On Feb 23, 2022, oagwood wrote: I used to open some shows with a newspaper tear--I'm a fan of Baxt's newspaper tear, it has always worked well for me, I do not have the new version since I am now a hobbiest and I can't really justify it. [/quote] It is terrific! I've used it for several years in my act, though not as an opener. Version 1 works just as well as version 2 (I've used both). Sadly, I had to recently set it aside as my source of cheap (free) newspapers dried up. Now I am using No Tear 2.0 and using same newspaper multiple times.Personally I don't like it as much. But the audience reaction is still strong. |
