Hi Dylanxtay,
I appreciated your reply to RedDevil about how "The Supermatch" plays out - thanks for taking the time to share that! I had a follow up question, can the routine be presented as the participant matching the performers cube? By that I mean does the choreography only make sense in terms of the performer mixing his/her cube to match the second cube? In other words, could it be used an alternative to Venom Cube where the PARTICIPANT (not the performer) matches another cube? Best wishes, Drew

I just received the book from Vanishing Inc in mail today, and I was expecting to have to work for a few days to get the "super match" routine down. OMG.
There is no way that I can express how happy I am with this routine. I know we use the word brilliant all the time on this board, but this is freaking amazing brilliant (Super Match routine). Within 15 minutes of watching the videos and reading through the chapter, I tried this on my wife, and it is quite impressive. It's like a poor man's Venom Cube, and it is absolutely impossible from a spect's view with two ungimmicked cubes. This routine over delivered IMHO. I absolutely love it. I can't believe more people aren't talking about it. Just thinking through why this easy method works so well just makes me so jealous that he figured this out. (note: I can solve a cube pretty easily, and I wouldn't recommend this for someone who can't solve a cube. The reason is, you will mess up the mix needed the first time or so because you lose count or something. I did this initially a few times, and I had to solve it to start over a few times. But if you know how to solve the cube, you will develop "muscle memory" so fast that you will literally, hehe, be telling your spectators the truth. You will also end each routine performance with two totally mixed cubes, and you will need to resolve them in order to perform it again). To answer my friend Drew's question (I think): There are a few compromises obviously in doing this routine. At the end of the routine, you basically get the same impact and moment of matching, IMHO, as Square One or Venom or Rubicon. With the same degree of impossibility. The difference is the presentational angle and procedure for how you matched them (impossibly). Without getting in the weeds, no, it's not as clean as a performer mixing one cube "randomly" and a spectator mixing their cube randomly and then they match. There is a necessary "training" procedure involved for the audience which is a faux explanation serving as the thread for presentation. But the thing is, the faux explanation that the audience is left with just impresses the audience all the more. But trust me, I can't see how the impact of this different angle is lessened because of what happens and how fair it looks to the audience. Another way to say it: there is not a "predictive" element to this presentation like the gimmicked versions. The conflict/presentation for those watching instead (of prediction and matching) is one of matching through a very impossible-looking skill and a "fair" blind randomizing process. Thus, I would describe the impact similarly to how magic square is often performed (in the non-mentalist, non predictive, non clairvoyant ways that magic square is often performed). Thus, if a mentalist's character was strictly clairvoyant or prediction oriented, this presentation would deviate from that character. On the other hand, if your character permits other feats of impossible skill, I still believe the final moment of this routine is so good and so fair, nobody will care in the slightest. Just my two cents, and I don't want to pretend I speak as a "pro" here.

You could use a Giiker cube and use the app in order to return it quickly to a solved state.

We can certainly adopt various strategies to follow up with the routine after its conclusion with ideas like a bag s*****, or using RD etc. The fact that there's nothing to ditch out of the routine and leaving you completely clean does facilitate the freedom in choosing how the next approach can go.

It takes Manual as well as Camera inputs. I use CubeX quite frequently. No harm in giving CubeX a try.

I've been eagerly awaiting this release since that initial FB video dropped.
That routine drove me crazy for months. So grateful to Evgeniy for sharing this with the rest of us and the Matching routine was an unexpected bonus. So clever! And I actually like this False mix - it's very smooth and visually deceptive on a mixed cube. No luck on the Easter egg yet.

Hi all! In regards to the Easter Egg.. well if you're truly keen to find out what it is about, do join the Cube Maestro Discussion group on Facebook, in which not just the Easter egg is explained in full, but there's also contributions from everyone that has purchased the product.
Do check out the group and I'll hope to see you there. https://www.facebook.com/groups/386771772876087/?ref=share

Finally gave my attention to this and boy even the Advanced Algorithm Trick is great, which is the first one in the book. Got the 2 algorithms down almost second nature. I understand there are the likes of it within the Refraktor project but I do not yet have that and am happy where I am with this and can't wait to perform it in every kind of environment, it is a very impressive feat and you can end up in your quick solve position at the end.
Now on to the Supermatch! |
