I've listed several objects below each of which is associated with a number. Some are real, but others are phony due to an error in the number. #1, for example is a 28 karat gold bar. Pure gold is 24 karats, so that's obviously fake. Which ones really exist?
1. A 28 karat gold bar 2. Gas with an octane level of 91 3. An interstate sign marking route 75 going east 4. A package sent by second class postage 5. A striped pool ball with the number 7 on it 6. A bottle of B-5 vitamins 7. The address: Mr. Steven Jones, 3 Front St., Seattle, WA 23602 8. A 25-watt light bulb 9. A football player getting ready to pass, with the number 79 on his jersey 10. The phone number: (728) 749-8352 11. A 20-lb. bowling ball 12. A number 2.5 pencil 13. A bottle of 151 proof Bacardi Rum 14. A bottle of Asprin in which each pill contains 500 milligrams 15. Radio station 96.0 FM 16. #21 Sunscreen |

Scott ,
You mean only in the US or worldwide? Because 15 can exist in Europe but not in the US for example. |

I didn't think about this when posting it, but this is pretty US-centric. Question number 3, 4, 7, 9 and 15 refer to US standards. (Though I would be interested to hear the European answer to #9.)

#3 - Highways that are odd-numbered in the US run North-South
#4 - No such thing as second class postage in the US anymore—it's been changed to Periodicals #5 - The seven ball is maroon and does not have a stripe—the striped ones don't start until #9 #6 - TRUE—pantothenic acid #7 - All Seattle zip codes start with 9, not 2 #8 - True #9 - Most QB's wear low numbers, but almost any offensive player can throw the ball downfield during a play I'll come back later...it's late and I'm going to bed.

To add to RxGregory’s list:
2. yes 10. no, 728 does not appear to be a valid area code in the US 12. yes, and a number 3 seems fairly common as well 13. yes 14. yes 15. outside of the US – yes; inside the US – no, only frequencies with odd decimal values are assigned |

So far, so good. There's 11 and 16 left unanswered so far. Also, one of the answers given so far is incorrect.
Any thoughts on the answers to these three? |

I'll try the last two:
11. no, bowling balls are limited 16 lbs for standard 10 pins 16. yes, at least there are a few on the market claiming spf 21 |

That works! The only answer that was wrong was RxGregory's answer for #9. Number 70-79, in American football, are reserved for tackles.

Thanks for the puzzle, Scott, and for showing my obvious lack of knowledge concerning football. I had to work the last 3 days straight, and couldn't come back to the post quick enough. Where in the heck do you come up with all of these?

I have puzzle books and magazines going back to when I was in junior high. Some of the puzzles I really enjoy and like to pass on to groups like this.

I Disagree with #9. It is true that "Number 70-79, in American football, are reserved for tackles." However on a given play they may line up at a different position and throw a pass.
As a matterof fact, the statement doesn't indicate that it it is even during a game. I'm sure lots of tackles throw passes in practice.
