In a video I saw Tamariz placed 4 indifferent cards on the top of the deck, face down, and instantly changed them to 4 of a kind. Is this published anywhere? Is this the two for two switch published in Sonata but done with 4 cards?
(I don't have Sonata to check, I just found out about the switch in Denis Behr's website). Please help. Thanks. |

The first answer is yes, Tamariz has a variation in Sonata to change more than 2 cards. Plus, there is the "The Staircase Change", explained by Harry Lorayne, along with more from Tamariz to allow for a change of all 4 of the cards.

There are a number of really good switches that can be used for 4 cards, and less obviously, but even more if necessary.
The Complete Works of Derek Dingle has a few that are great and seldom seen.

Check out the "Classic Magic Of Michael Vincent", in particular, his ambitious aces trick.

I saw an incredible switch in the "Classic Magic of Michael Vincint" in his ace assembly in the performance video. I have watched the explanation portion twice and never saw an explanation of the switch.

That particular switch and its variations are not published at this time. However the move it is based is published in many other Tamariz books. Tamariz is writing s book on the move but we all know how he tends to take his time with things so I woudnt hold my breath.

A four for four switch near the start (for ambitious aces), and a three for one switch near the end. The one I refer to in my post above, could duplicate exactly what Tamariz does in the clip - hence my recommendation. Both switches are explained on disc 2 of the classic magic set - in the chapter called "Vincents Aces". Jim |

An important aspect of the switch is the delay. Magicians are frequently in a hurry to pull off a move. Sometimes letting things "breathe" is a devastating device.

Tortuga referred to switches from Derek Dingle. The one I'm partial to is his "NoLap Switch." I find it to be very practical and very deceptive.

Thanks for the Michael Vincent reference Jim. What a great set of DVDs BTW. I love his style. And he's a real expert as well. The way he engages with his audience is fabulous. The whole opening part of DVD 2 is full of great advice in this regard.

Mike Vincent is an incredible magician. I think he is one of the best sleight-of-hand performers in the world. The natural and relaxed way he handles his props is something I don't often see with other performers.
I'm not familiar with the Tamariz technique, but it looks a lot like a delayed version of Chris Kenner's 4for4 Switch from his book Totally Out of Control. It was also one of the first downloads put out by Theory11: 4for4 Switch by Chris Kenner. It is well worth the small asking price. It Marty |

It was created by Tamariz when he was lecturing in Israel (therefore the name). It is a particular application of the TPC. Other methods may serve the same FUNCTION but none of them have the BEAUTY of this move. The spec can touch the cards and you show your hands in every angle - there's nothing to see. And yet the change is done in front of the spectator's eyes. It's not published (yet). My advise is - start practicing and become proficient with the TPC, so when this is published you will be ready. That's what I'm doing anyways.
