A nice effect. It might be in the Elastrix book. But that's a shot in the dark. I haven't paged thru it in a long time. Dan Harlan has put out material on rubber band magic.

On Joe Rindfleisch Jumper DVD there is a link that looks just like this. Also on Hanson Chein Touch DVD there is a similar link. Both excellent DVDs/downloads

As far as linking rubber bands goes I think Crazy Sams Handcuffs and Melting Point are the two best ones I've come across recently.

Io don't like rubber band tricks too much but Axel Adler openned his Penguin lecture with one that I am just crazy about ... its almost easy too...
insert one rubber band around the other the one band is held by one ringer finger going through on one side and the other ring finger going through on the other side... the first rubber band is simply dangling as it hangs in the middle with two hands separated....you hold the dangler with left thumb and left index finger and in a second the dangling rubber band is snown to be only linked at one place then in next instant the dangling band simply is pulled off the other with right thumb and finger ... the rubber band held by the ring fingers really never ever moved from the fingers was always held at each end at the bottom of each .... maybe I didn't describe it too well.. if you want I can teach it in a few minutes off my zoom account... it is really really cool Marty |

One of the best linking rubber band effects that is sometimes forgotten is Chris Kenner's Missing Link. The presentation shown is the one he does for magicians but there is an alternate presentation that he uses more for laymen in which he separates the white band from the black by breaking it apart and then restoring it. I personally agree with Chris on that being the better version (adding a broken and restored ending) but opinions vary. Top-notch IMHO.
