I was just reading Steve Brooks's review of it, and he mentioned Thumb Twister. I remember reading about Bottle Twister before it came out, and I didn't hear anything about this. Months ago, I thought it would be an awesome trick to twist your thumb, but the only method I came up with was using one realistic TT. If that trick is what it says, it will be bumbed to the top of my "To Buy" list. Peter, I believe you mentioned that Bottle Twister can be done with a rootbeer or creme soda bottle(I hope so, I have about 10 in my book case). Does the trick require the bottle to have a label? The fact that I am only 16 would limit me to non-alchoholic beverages.

Ah yes Thumb Twister! This is something I devised years ago and thought that it was well suited to include with the Bottle Twister effect. This is an impromtu effect. When I went to Turkey I showed some fellow magicians all kinds of impromtu stuff, and they all seemed to love the twisting Thumb the best, I guess because they had never seen anything like it. I later taught them how to do it, and one night on the bus back to our hotel from doing shows, all I could see was all these Turkish magicians on the bus twisting their thumbs...it was quite the site. Ask Tom Cutts or Ichazod who were on the bus at the time, they will tell you, although Tom might have been sleeping...hehe(just kidding Tom).
I will be at PCAM in august, and would be happy to demo my little Thumb Twister illusion to anyone who asks. Bottle Twister can only be done with beverages that use a brown beer like bottle. Here in Canada we have a rootbeer called 'Dad's Rootbeer' and bottle twister works great with this. And yest you do need a label not only for the trick but it wouldn't look normal without one. Hope this helps answer your questions. P.

I think I was awake, though I could have been dreaming , but here was the sight. We were all huddled around a group of seats in our tour bus and guys were showing a bunch of stuff with just their fingers. You know, the typical stuff like stretching a finger etc.
Peter busts out this thing where his thumb looks like it breaks at about a 90 degree angle. It is a very cool illusion and very deceptive. EVERYBODY liked it!! It is the type of thing that "somebody" could make believable on TV. Anyhow the emotional impact of the effect is very strong. We all know what a broken arm or leg looks like and there is an immediate reaction to that. You get that immediate reaction with this... it is up to you what you do with that. A) Blow it off as just a trick. B) Hold the image too long until it becomes just a puzzle. C) Give them just enough image to achieve conviction. All I can say is this "little illusion" was a big hit with everyone who saw it. Cheers, Tom |

I had just got Just Pasin Thru, and learned the finger thru bill. I was bored in Chemistry, and was trying to come up with more impromptu body tricks. I came up with the idea of twisting your thumb, and thought it would be cool. I never did come up with any cool impromptu body stuff, but I'm glad you did Peter.

Is the PCAM convention an "open" admission to anyone who pays the price of admission or must you be a member of a magic fraternity like IBM or SAM?

Just FYI, you can attend the IBM and SAM national conventions even if you are not a member of the respective organization... you just pay a little more (just a little).
