BA if used properly with the right light angle is absolutely devastating to the audience. My best experience with BA is my square circle. But like I said if used properly with the right lighting it can be devastating! In a good way of course LOL

Though, due to the nature of these gimmicks and the practicality of them I will try these out in a close-up setting. I just booked an outside gig (Fall Days) coming up Oct 8th. I believe it's late afternoon/evening so I am hoping to give these a whirl sooner than I thought. Should be interesting!

I ordered it. This reminds me of Blackout by Platt Magic but further developed with a different routine and application.

Well, I decided to start my journey with the Hornets last night. I have to say when I viewed the tutorial before getting the package and found out this was BA, I was a little disappointed since I don't use BA in a close-up strolling environment. Though you can definitely use the gimmicks in parlour/stage shows, I was hoping the gimmick(s) would be something other than BA to use for close-up. BUT....these gimmicks have inspired me to search and I mean seriously search to find every place/environment I can perform with The Hornets! Just Love Them!!!
Of course you will definitely be limited to where this can be performed for a LIVE audience. But honestly, the gimmick(s) are practical enough to carry with you even if you end up not using them. Nicolas was right with his statement "that you will feel like a wizard when using them". I can confirm that you do! These are so much fun and I found it very hard to put them down last night. Practicing with these is a blast! The Hornet has inspired me to really give BA a chance and practice to make these work in a close-up setting. They are that good! Right now, Nicolas teaches three different routines using The Hornet. I think the coin routine will take the most practice, the TnR corner of a card (FLASH) will take some practice and the gum routine the least. I started with learning FLASH and it just looks so darn good in the mirror, I couldn't stop doing it over and over. I have that outdoor evening gig on October 8th, I will definitely be taking these. Just hope the suns not shining to much, its for a township Fall Days event in the streets so I think even if there is full sun, I may be able to find a place to stand that has shade from the buildings. If not, I have a few more outdoor evening events booked on October 22, Nov. 12th and the 19th in hopes of using these. One thing is for sure, I will be doing my best to find a suitable place at all those events! Now, some may ask was it worth the $35.00 if you don't perform many or any stage/parlour shows and knowing you would be limited in using them in the casual close-up/strolling setting? That depends- IMO, for me, I do not regret the purchase now that I have started working with them. In today's horrible economy (and in my case having 3 boys playing ice hockey) to drop $35.00 for something that may not get used extensively is not the best thing for my family. BUT, as I stated, The Hornets are just so much fun to practice and the feeling you get while watching the magic happen is phenomenal! I felt like a young kid in a huge candy store last night while practicing, it was that much fun. For me, even if it's only a few times a year that I get to use these for a LIVE audience, it will be worth it because this looks like some of the strongest magic you can ever perform and people will be talking about you and those effects, no doubt. I do love all the routines Nicolas teaches in the tutorial. Right now I decided to master his FLASH routine. I think FLASH has the best chance to be performed for a LIVE audience because the hornet is never exposed longer than 1-2 seconds throughout the routine. RNK

Thank You Very Much for the preview! So then you believe that the BA in this effect will work well just by getting out of direct sunlight and into some shade?
How many magicians does it take to change a lightbulb? Regardless, for magicians darkness is a time for d'lite.

Especially the FLASH routine since as I stated earlier the hornet is only in view a couple times for one to two possibly three seconds in one point of the routine. But for the most part it is only exposed for one to two seconds. Man, I'm just having so much fun practicing with this, lol.

I believe what I’ve done is made it possible to use BA in more environments, traditionally BA could only done in strict environments. Also, like most if not all products that use BA it’s not advertised as it’s partially the secret and I still believe that's predominantly what we pay for, though sometimes it’s publicly revealed for instance specifically for a “BA project” and blatantly sold that way which is a different situation entirely but I think you get my point. The Hornet project has yet to officially release, it’s still exclusively available on my website with limited copy’s. It will eventually be sold through Murphy’s and distributed to all magic shops once I am ready. The gimmicks need to be handmade by myself (almost done!) also once I am happy with the Trailer it will officially launch. I hope that helps answer any questions. |

Am having trouble with this... the thing isn't sticking for long... changed the coin to a shell ... used white blue grey tack all don't stay on too long...maybe I am moving too fast ..have reduced the gimmick action to a very slight one but still it falls off... I can recover when this happens but just don't want to put so much work in something that I can't depend on .. not the creator's fault .am just missing something.
thanks if you can help Marty |
