Kaizen, thanks for the kind words.
Midnight333, one of the most effective ways to promote a somewhat cultish program like this is to network. It was mentioned above, but use theatre groups, other performers or college circles to "get the word out". It also helps to do a few "teasers" to get the uninitiated interested in the program. After all, not everyone has read Lovecraft! Be creative. Once you have done the program, people WILL talk. I hope that this helps. |

Pre-show can also be accomplished with the proper announcement and public address stipulations. The lobby can be a good place to get the crowd's anticipation up for what they are about to see and experience and raise the excitement level.
It is also a good time to let them know what their requirements are---that there will be audience participation, etc., and any rules of conduct. Or tell the STORY of what is about to occur. The pre-show announcement sequence is VERY important at most all Theme Parks and major attractions. It can set the mood AND the pace. If it is done well with proper music and professional voice presentation you are a big leg up when they finally come in and sit down. If you would like to PM me, I can help with this (yes, plenty of experience in this and even with movie trailer voice overs!) If you wanted me to do it, it's also 50 bucks that can turn the corner for you in seating a receptive crowd. BUT whoever you choose, please be certain it sounds professional, authoritative and something you would hear on a BIG show or Theme Park Attraction, think Universal Studios, not just a local DJ or your Uncle Louie. Just a thought and after all, it is what I do for a living. Doug
