To be honest, I think Dan and Daves DVD seems better, I sure think the introduction is a little silly, people running around with guns and stuff, but the cutting included looks nice.
Are you tired of all the sybiling and stuff? De´vo included a sybil in CTG. Keones DVD got a sybil as well, and all cuts in the demos are variations of cuts that already exist, "the same old stuff" as you call it. Please don't make this a bash dan and dave thread, we already have 25 of those made on the Café, I'm again not bashing keone, I'm giving my opinion, I once again don't think its anything new included. All from me.

Yep, if you want the latest in rehashed cuts, go for that DVD.
If you want latest and greatest, Jerry's DVD that shows how to put moves together and routine ideas with over 60 moves, then this is the one for you. I' very happy Jerry is releasing this! Refreshing air for those like me tired of all the rehashed tudor DVDs. Phantom |

Correct me if Im wrong but aren't Jerry's flourishes rehashes as well? He didn't invent the flourishes in his encyclopedia. For the record I'm not bashing Jerry, I have the encyclopedia and I love the Handlordz stuff. I also love the Bucks and can't wait for "The System"!

Actually, I'll correct you there, Jerry invented most of the stuff in the Encyclopedia. The aerials, the L Cuts, etc. Some stuff like armspreads, Charliers, etc he didn't create but a lot of the material in the "bible" is definitely original.
I can't wait for the System to come out as well. It's gonna kick butt.

CLJ what I mean't to say was that there are a lot of flourishes that even Jerry didn't invent. He even says it in the book, I don't want to get in a thing with Jerry because the guy is definately one of the best (if not the best) and a good guy! I emailed him a couple of times about stuff in his book and he got back to me right away (before he started working on his companion dvd). I just wanted to use him as an example. Phantom you are a good guy and obviously very knowlegable, so I don't want to get into this with you as well.
Can't wait for "Spring Jam" |

Yes I agree with the "no more cuts" dvds.
I've seen countless number of moves from the Showoff series, and sybil after sybil after sybils from Cap and Buck Twins - and sure they look pretty neat the first time you seem 'em, but if I'm gonna spend another $35-$50 US on another DVD, there is no way in hell that I'll even look at another cut dvd. If I have to work for a dvd, it's gotta be ORIGINAL and still have that VISUAL EYE-CANDY everytime I perform it. And it definitely has to be fun practicing for it (because one of the best times is accomplishing a flourish flawlessly for the first time). It has to me jawdropping. And I can say from experience that a birdy fan can freak more people out than my WTH happened to sybil. Now I'm not a handlordz/superhandz fanatic... I don't even know what the difference b/w the 2 is. But I gotta say that the Cradle to Grave has gotta rank above every flourish DVD in town. You can instantly tell that the guy spent his whole life dedicated and de'voted to this field (no pun intended). Hopefully we'll soon see more De'vos and Jerry's 5 years from now. Not duplicates of them, but people that think beyond what was once thought as humanely possible. Antz p.s what was with that demo video of the Buck Twins with the cars and guns? I must have seen like 4 seconds of card footage. |

Antz, there's a reason they called that video a "teaser".
Hm... Phantom, I can understand your aunguish. You prefer more "topilogical" flourishes like armspreads, elementals, L Cuts and such. Not much of a sybil fan, I can see. But you must remember... who are you performing for? The Ulmen 4? Your webcam? Or a bunch of laypeople on the sidewalk? I'd say the choice of material is an important factor for your audience. I would definitely not do a sybil cut for the ulmen 4, and I wouldn't do a step from the trials for a video. Neither would I do a fire elemental for laypeople on the streets... as you know what I mean The new Dan and Dave System DVD won't totally be on cuts... there will be the Werm (display) and Kick Flip (madness) to entertain the topilogicalists. And anyways, Phantom... you said you aren't getting are more CUT dvds? Then I guess you'll have to pass on De'vo's upcoming Cobra CUT dvd. -Kev |

If you want to see the best manipulation, check out McBride's videos. Put the dumb cards down for a minute and widen your horizons to add other objects. Yes, flourishes are occasionally nice but when's the last time someone said, "He was the greatest magician because of the way he cut the deck " The letters s-k-i-l-l are not found in MAGIC. A simple mental effect from Banachek that can be learned in few hours is more powerful than all your years of practicing cuts!

This isn't about magic.
I doubt you've seen any pro extreme card manipulators perform, anyways. So don't knock what you don't know.

I concur on this, no more variations! Stop wasting the film and power on countless sybils after sybils.

I would like to see some more topological flourishes. I don't see why you wouldn't want to perform fire elementals or L cuts or even arm spreads for laypeople. I think this kind of stuff would be cool to see, as I am very impressed by someone who can handle flaming cards, for example. I think we DEFINITELY need more variety in the flourish video world like we are seeing now.
Some of the coolest stuff I am seeing now are hinge cuts and self standing structures. I know some of these ideas have been around forever, but they are still cool. Just my two cents.
Man, I hope he chooses a card soon!

Yeah, and if you really are creative, create your own category. That would be hard and cool. And that's why you see some people never do other stuff then sybil, because they are thinking inside the box instead of outside it.
