I'm thinking about buying Ray Kosby's Impossible Card Magic DvD, and was wondering if Raise Rise can be done with the selection face up as it "rises" through the deck. Thanks

It can not. If you want a good "face up" raise, go get Aaron Fishers New Notes. He has a Great rise for ambitious card!

I believe Aaron's move was also in the Genii (with him as the Cover Story). I think it was December's issue, 2002.
Also check out Kenner's "SWE Shift" from "Totally Out Of Control"... S.Segal |

So in essence, it's not actually their selection that's rising through the deck ?

Are you disappointed hearing it is not the actual selection which rises?
It doesn't matter it is actual selection or not. This beautiful effect is produced with rising action itself. If you are disappointed, you will miss a great trick. But I don't recommend Raise Rise if you are not prepared to spend much time for practicing. Hideo Kato |

I second that Hiedo, it's and excellent trick but takes a lot of practice but if you get it you will have something that not many magicians can do.

Is there - this is not concerning just Raise Rise - an alternative for the move?
I would like to perform Deep thought and Half Right, but the alternatives I came up with do not look as smooth as the move at all |

Geoff Latta has the original of this trick.
The card is signed, face up and held by the corner by someone... yet it rises through the pack to wind up at the top of the deck. Think about it... is your goal to make something magical for your audience or to amuse yourself? Your choices determine much of what your routines look like to your audiences.

Or just buy Geaton Blooms Escalator. Do you want to spend time or money?

Jonathan beat me to it. I belive Geoff latta's version can be found in Steven MInch's spectacle.
