Frank Garcia changed the name because he told me the story of that was his opening trick when he did a show or lecture in Chicago. Later when he forgot the real name of it, he saw in his notes for that show "Chicago Opener". Frank's book was very popular.

As much as I admire Frank Garcia as a performer and personality, he had a habit of taking credit for tricks that were not his to claim. Forgetting the name of a trick, and then publishing it in two of your books with no credit is hard to forgive. I've written a blog post about the origin of Chicago Opener/Red Hot Mama:
